No one prepares you for the real hidden expense of parenthood, and I’m not talking about childcare. It’s the fruit.

Happy birthday to the king of our castle - and by castle, I mean the 4BR home we refinanced for a sub-3 mortgage. We love you, @dougboneparth!

The above photo was taken before a party last night, but the lighting in our “castle” was so bad we swapped it for a real one 😉

Been telling my family for years about the Halloween I dressed not as a cat but a Cat from Cats: The Musical. Ya just had to be there.

For Halloween, @dougboneparth and I wanted to dress up as a Boomer and their dilapidated ranch home selling in our town for $2M, but our daughter said no.

Where in your financial life do you have too many eggs in one basket? For many households, the answer is company stock. I wrote a newsletter about shopping for my tweenager. But really, it’s about creating frameworks that enable you to make intentional decisions when life gets complicated. I won’t drop a link cause I know they don’t work here, so head on over to The Joint Account to read it.

This is nerdy, but what the hell. In law school, I spent a year researching and writing my journal article: “Hot Pursuit: The Media’s Liability for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress in Newsgathering.” The impetus was Conradt v. NBC, a wrongful death lawsuit arising from the time when Chris Hanson and his “To Catch A Predator” crew went TO the alleged predator himself, an Assistant District Attorney in Texas, along with the full force of local law enforcement. I’m over-summarizing. Anyway. I just watched the trailer for the new movie, “Primetime.” And holy sh*t. It’s definitely about this case that I spent a year learning the ins and outs of and developing my own theories around. My article was cited by two federal court cases, which I am incredibly proud of still. Just one of those professional things that totally takes you by surprise. I am very eager to see how this story, this case, this issue, is framed in the movie.
