Operation Rah-e-Rast in May 2009 when Pakistan fully shifted 7-8 brigade sized formations from its eastern border to the west. This included elements of the 23rd & 37th Infantry Divisions including the 333rd Brigade from Jalalpur Jattan plus the 30th & 212th Brigades from IV Corps & the 54th Brigade from XXX Corps deployed to Swat, Dir & Buner under HQ X Corps for a full scale corps operation. The operation was heavily supported by airborne assets including Army Aviation Mi-17 transport helicopters for heliborne insertion of SSG & infantry into Peochar and other high value areas AH-1F Cobra gunships for close air support & PAF fighter aircraft for precision strikes and air interdiction!

He launched Operation Rah-e-Rast in 2009 & cleared Swat & Buner & broke TTP. He made new war doctrine to counter India Cold Start Doctrine! He made Army Marksmanship Unit for better firing. He made recruitment balanced & added more Baloch & Sindhi and minorities. He created IG Arms & IG Communications & IT posts for modern weapons & technology. It was an initial Step for modernising the military!! All these steps built the base for Operation Zarb-e-Azb later.
