was a week of shifting signals for markets. After the U.S. midterm results, gold and equities moved higher as the dollar and Treasury yields eased.
By Friday, a stronger than expected jobs report had brought interest rates back into focus, while productivity data added another piece to the picture.
Our weekly recap connects the key moves and looks ahead to next week’s CPI and PPI. Watch the full breakdown below.

NFP Keeps the Labour Market Resilient
The US added 165,000 jobs in October, well above the previous 12-month average of 48,000 monthly gains.
Unemployment held at 4.1%, while average hourly earnings rose 0.4% month over month and 3.1% year over year.
The revisions added further strength, with August and September payrolls revised 84,000 higher combined.
The headline is solid, but wage growth, unemployment and the revisions all contribute to the broader picture of labour market strength and the Federal Reserve's rate outlook.
For traders, the key is understanding whether sustained labour market strength could reduce the case for further rate cuts and how that may influence the dollar, Treasury yields, gold and equities.

What Will the US Jobs Report Tell Markets?
The US jobs report is about to give markets another important read on the labour market.
Traders will be watching payroll growth, unemployment, wage pressure and any revisions to the previous figures.
A strong report could support the dollar and Treasury yields. A softer one could bring fresh support for gold and rate-sensitive assets.
The headline matters, but the details will shape the reaction.
What are you watching most closely: payrolls, wages or unemployment?

US Productivity Surges as Labour Costs Ease
US labour productivity rose 3.6% in Q3 at an annualised rate, while unit labour costs fell 0.7%.
Hourly compensation still increased 2.9%, but stronger productivity helped offset the rise in labour costs.
That is a useful signal for the inflation outlook. Tomorrow’s payrolls report will show whether the wider labour market tells the same story.

The U.S. midterm results are in. Now the market is asking a different question: what could the result mean for growth, regulation and rates?
So far, the reaction has been clear:
Gold is higher.
The dollar is softer.
Treasury yields have eased.
U.S. equities have rallied.
The next step is separating the immediate relief move from the longer-term policy story.
Watch the dollar, 10-year yields and gold closely. They may tell us more about the market’s real interpretation than the headlines alone.

A new trading week is here. Start by sticking to a process you can repeat.
Before taking a trade, know why you're entering, what would invalidate the setup and how much you're willing to risk.
You won't get every trade right. What matters is having a clear reason for every decision and knowing how to manage the outcome.

If you've been following us this week, you'll know markets had quite a bit to digest. The Fed held rates, GDP grew 3.4%, core PCE remained at 3.1% y/y, while Q3 labour costs eased to 0.8%.
In this week's recap, we connect these developments with the moves in yields, the dollar, gold, oil and equities, and look at what they could mean for the week ahead.

US ECI: Labour Costs Ease
The US Employment Cost Index rose 0.8% quarter on quarter in Q3, in line with expectations and slightly below the previous 0.9% reading.
Annual compensation growth came in at 3.4%, with wages up 3.1% and benefits 3.9%. However, real private wages fell 0.6%, showing that workers are still feeling the pressure of inflation.
For markets, this points to some moderation in labour costs, which is encouraging for the Fed. But one softer reading doesn't mean inflation is under control. Benefit costs remain elevated, and the broader inflation picture still needs watching.
The initial market reaction was mixed: DXY fell 0.32%, US 10-year yields dropped 6.8 basis points, while gold declined 1.4% and S&P 500 futures (ES) slipped 1.1%.
What should traders watch?
Don't trade the headline alone. Watch how Treasury yields and the dollar respond as the market digests the data. Also, pay attention to whether gold recovers and equities find support.
The key is to see whether the initial reaction holds or reverses. That will tell us more about market sentiment than the headline numbers alone.
Stay patient, wait for confirmation and keep risk defined.

US Labour Costs in Focus
Before today’s US Employment Cost Index, the key question is simple: are labour costs changing direction?
Watch the headline, wages, benefits and the shift from the previous quarter. After the release, we’ll track whether yields, DXY, gold and equities confirm the market’s first reaction.

Post-FOMC read: GDP 3.4% annualised; PCE 3.6% YoY; core PCE 3.1%.
Growth is holding up, but sticky inflation may keep rate cuts on hold.
For traders, watch yields and DXY, then gold for confirmation. Do not chase the first move. Keep risk defined.

GDP and PCE: What Markets Will Be Watching Today
The Fed left interest rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%. It also made it clear that economic activity and consumer spending remain strong, while inflation is still a concern.
Today’s GDP and PCE figures will give us more insight into where the US economy stands.
GDP tells us how fast the economy is growing. PCE shows how consumer prices are changing and is one of the key measures the Fed uses to track inflation.
Strong growth alongside stubborn inflation could make it harder for the Fed to consider cutting rates. If growth slows and inflation cools, the outlook could look quite different.
The dollar, Treasury yields, gold and equities will all be worth watching as the numbers come in.
These figures could offer fresh clues about the Fed’s next move, and the markets may not wait long to react.

FOMC decision day.
The rate decision matters, but how the Fed’s announcement compares with market expectations can make a big difference to price action.
Pay attention to three things today:
• The rate decision: Is it in line with what markets expected, or does it come as a surprise?
• The Fed’s statement: What does it say about inflation, economic growth and the outlook for future rate cuts or hikes?
• Market reaction: Watch the US dollar, Treasury yields and gold after the announcement. Their reaction can offer clues about how traders are interpreting the news.
One thing to remember: a rate cut doesn’t automatically mean a weaker dollar, and a rate hold doesn’t guarantee a stronger one. The decision, the Fed’s outlook and what markets had already priced in all matter.
Avoid rushing into the first move. Let the announcement settle, watch how price reacts around key levels, and wait for a setup that fits your trading plan.

FOMC decision tomorrow.
The Fed’s two-day meeting begins today, and markets will be watching more than just the rate decision.
The wording of the statement and the press conference could shape expectations for the next move in rates, with potential implications for the dollar, Treasury yields, gold and equities.
The key takeaway may lie beyond the decision itself. Pay close attention to what the Fed signals about its next move.

NEW WEEK, SAME RULE: MANAGE YOUR RISK
A new trading week is here. Before looking for opportunities, make sure you know what you’re willing to risk.
You don’t have to win every trade to become a consistent trader. What matters is managing your risk, protecting your capital, and staying disciplined enough to take the next valid setup.
Before entering a trade, know your risk, your invalidation level, and how much you’re prepared to lose if things don’t go as planned.
Start the week with a clear plan, not the pressure to force a trade. There will always be another opportunity.
What’s one risk management rule you’re sticking to this week?
