I will forever remained convinced that most United States Americans, regardless of their political persuasion, fundamentally believe that their lives are worth more than the others in the world.

We just returned the party that killed around 500k Palestinian to legislative power with no consequences or changes. Just what Sinwar was dreaming of I’m sure.

For those of us who live under the bombs, American elections are hardly the political spectacle we are expected to celebrate. We couldn't give two hoots about which party wins an election in a system that has perfected the art of manufacturing the illusion of choice while keeping the machinery of imperialism firmly intact. Choosing between two horse manures with the same smell is not democracy. And expecting us to applaud because one smells marginally less offensive is frankly insulting. The people casting ballots are told they are deciding their country's future, while the machinery that determines whose lives are expendable, whose countries get bombed, whose land gets occupied and whose suffering gets funded by American taxpayers operates well beyond their reach. And spare us the excitement over the Democrats. Was Obama not bombing weddings in Yemen? Did Biden not arm and shield the genocide in Gaza while Israel carried out its ethnic cleansing campaign in Lebanon? Apparently, we are supposed to develop selective amnesia every four years, pick our favourite shade of American imperialism and celebrate when the supposedly lesser evil wins. Forgive us if we aren't emotionally invested. When your foreign policy is someone's funeral, your democracy is someone else's nightmare. We are for sure not obliged to celebrate the electoral choices of an empire that keeps choosing us as its targets. طوشتونا عاد.

It took American people less than two years to completely whitewash the Democrats’ facilitation of the Gaza genocide and put them back in power. How quickly people forget is beyond me. The world is too scary. Out of the frying pan into the fire…Israel is ecstatic.

Mamdani effect
It pisses me off that we keep crawling back into the same fucking cycle. After 10/7, I watched people rediscover their power. Encampments. Community organizing. Jail support. Food pantries. Mobilizations against ICE. Subway turnstile jumps. Communities protecting each other. People disrupting weapons manufacturers in a SINGLE DAY. We stopped begging for change and started forcing it. And somehow, we're right back to knocking on doors, campaigning for the lesser evil, and convincing ourselves that the next politician will stop the bombs and dismantle the very systems both parties spent generations building. How many times do we need to learn this lesson? Maybe one day we’ll stop trading disruption for campaign slogans and collective action for political promises. Maybe we’ll remember that we forced change because we made ourselves impossible to ignore. Our power was never in electing someone to save us. It was in organizing, disrupting, and protecting each other. Movements are supposed to hold politicians accountable, challenge the systems that sustain oppression, and build enough collective power to dismantle them. Not become fucking campaign machines for the very people they're supposed to hold accountable.
