Probably unpopular opinion: bitcoin and the whole market went up just because it was cheap money trying to find a home. But I guess if you got what you need, this is possibly another blip for your holdings.
1. have $1.5 billion, 2. use it all to buy something you barely understand, 3. "regret" the decision after reading one criticism about it. sounds like a sane and constructive investment strategy to me

If you're blasting BTC for its energy use, you should attack these 1st to optimize impact -US military -Air conditioning -Gold mining -Clothes dryers -Vampire electronics draw etc If you're not attacking those 1st, maybe it's not BTC's energy use you really have a problem with?
