Breastfeeding isnβt just for a babyβs nutritional needs. It also meets emotional demands by supporting motherbabyβs ability to co-regulate their nervous systems via skin-to-skin contact. It produces the hormones that help a mother and her baby to relax and sleep and bond and produce more milk, and it gives a mothersβ reproductive system time to balance its pre-pregnancy hormonal processes again.
Itβs more than just a baby βbeing fedβ. Its connection, development, physiological restoration and equilibrium for both the baby AND her mother.
Thatβs why formula isnβt even in the same playing field and should be used with discretion. Why every mother should try her best to breastfeed her baby as long as she is able.
Itβs part of the love God gave us (oxytocin) that is necessary for LIFE.

I just learned that a babyβs ability to smell their mother is stronger than their ability to see. They can even sense their motherβs absence in their sleep. Which explains why my baby wakes up within a minute of me stealthily rolling out of the bed after nursing her into a deep sleep.
