Alongside that purchase sits something much larger: a month’s parliamentary salary donated to the trust’s work. The shop visit is one part of a longer connection. Lowe also directs another month’s salary to St Elizabeth Hospice, supporting its proposed hospice building in Gorleston. These are two donations to organisations whose work meets around the same need: helping people receive care nearer their families. Behind that ambition is a project that brings separate local efforts together. East Coast Hospice secures land for a hospice before merging with St Elizabeth Hospice. The charity then studies what local people need and how a new building could remain financially sustainable. The Louise Hamilton Trust becomes a partner in that shared project. Lowe’s contributions support organisations doing that work, while the charities, supporters and care teams carry the wider effort. That practical choice deserves support for Rupert Lowe and the example he brings to Restore Britain: parliamentary pay put towards a clearly identified local need. The plans reach an important turning point when Great Yarmouth Borough Council grants planning permission. The proposed building includes an inpatient unit with up to 16 beds, alongside therapy services and support for people attending during the day. A community café is also part of the design, giving patients, relatives and visitors somewhere to spend time together. The intended benefit reaches beyond the people who would stay overnight. The hospice would also provide a base for staff coordinating care across the area. Its work would build on existing support in homes, hospitals and community settings. For families, the aim is more choice about where care happens when illness changes everyday life. For the organisations Lowe supports, the shared ambition is a dedicated place where that care can happen closer to home.
