quick reminder that while thereโ€™s plenty of political disagreement inside of dsa, we are all united against fascists and will not be intimidated by these thugs and low-lives

You simply have to hand it to ESPN for going all in on Pat McAfee and letting former employee Pablo Torre dogwalk the entire network on the biggest NBA story in years

No, "volunteers" were not key to DSA's victories in New York City, members were. DSA is a member-run organization that instills the importance of on-the-ground organizing at doors, on the streets, and in our communities. We are not another NGO competing for volunteers.
Lost in conversations about New York socialistsโ€™ charisma or social media prowess in recent electoral victories is something simple: boots on the ground. New York City DSA mobilized thousands of volunteers and is poised to do so again in the future. jacobin.com/2026/08/nyc-dsa-โ€ฆ

just as dsa members should recognize bad faith attacks against our members + defend them from those attacks, we should recognize bad faith attacks against our organization & its platform + defend it from those attacks

This isnโ€™t true. Beshear didnโ€™t veto 2025โ€™s Senate Bill 2, which stripped incarcerated, trans Kentuckians from gender-affirming care. He let that silently become law.
We need to focus less on political labels and more on driving down costs, creating affordable housing and helping hardworking Americans not just get by, but thrive.

Pick a lane and stay there. If you believe in working-class power, housing justice, universal healthcare, labor rights, and real economic democracy, you in the right place. If not, you got to go. Our communities deserve leaders with backbone, not politicians testing the wind every 5 minutes.

Iโ€™m gonna keep peopleโ€™s names out of my mouth, but I gotta say thisโ€ฆ Stop running as a DSA candidate if you only gonna rock with the platform when itโ€™s convenient. You can be strategic without selling out your politics. But what you canโ€™t do is waste people time.

i really like our program but itโ€™s kind of funny we put something out that probably few of our candidates are going to feel comfortable fully defending

Broader context is Rachel was answering a q from a right-wing outlet (Washington Times) attempting to get us to third-party the national org and separate ourselves from WDM. We need to be wary of this dynamic and reflect on how ALL of us need to get better at nipping that shit.
Here is the fuller answer, since this got around. "I would say that defunding the police is the opposite of democratic socialism. We want government services to work for everybody. We don't want abuse of power, right? So, just defunding a government service is not the thing that stops abuse of power. "So, by funding things like police and education and libraries, we make our communities better. I would say that this is a big difference between maybe some of the social issues that progressives take on versus the economic issues that democratic socialists take on."

So what does B&R think about electoral organizing anyway? How does this relate to building a โ€œdemocratic socialist party?โ€ If you live in NYC, pull thru tomorrow for a discussion ft council member @jake_ephros and incoming rep @bell4ky!

Don't forget about the Metro Council!
Next time @KyDems try to sell you on their "Kentucky values," remember they nominated self-proclaimed socialist Chuck Booker for Senate and a card-carrying Democratic Socialist for the General Assembly. Up and down the ballot, Kentucky Democrats are embracing the radical left.

These amendments create a budget that will make it cheaper and easier to get around the city, provide more affordable housing, & make feeding working families with quality food less expensive and more accessible. The working people of Louisville deserve more!
