Progress isn't measured by a single milestone—it's built through continuous advancement.
The 2025–26 academic year was a strong year for the UChicago Hemodynamic Laboratory, part of the Section of Cardiology at @UChicagoMed, defined not just by growth, but by the continued evolution of its advanced heart failure hemodynamic program.
While overall procedural volume increased 5.0%, the more meaningful story was the significant expansion of advanced hemodynamic services.
Highlights include:
• +147% Exercise Right Heart Catheterization
• +140% LVAD Ramp Studies
• +133% Pulmonary Vasodilator Studies
• +44% Remote PA Monitor Implants
These milestones reflect the continued growth of exercise right heart catheterization, LVAD ramp studies, remote pulmonary artery monitoring, and the growing pulmonary hypertension program, supporting the Laboratory's ongoing advancement in specialized heart failure hemodynamic care.
Congratulations to the UChicago Hemodynamic Laboratory team & the Advanced Heart Failure group for their continued leadership and commitment to advancing specialized cardiovascular care.

Some numbers simply can't be ignored.
Black Americans are 2.5x more likely to develop sarcoidosis and experience higher hospitalization and mortality rates than White Americans.
That's why FSR launched the Ignore No More Initiative to advance health equity and improve access to research, education, and care.

We wore red for women’s heart health ❤️
This February, the Section of Cardiology at @UChicagoMedicine proudly participated in National Wear Red Day to raise awareness that heart disease remains the leading cause of death among women.
Awareness drives prevention. Prevention drives better outcomes. Our commitment to advancing women’s heart health continues well beyond February.

A thrill to attend the @StopSarcoidosis 25th Anniversary Awards Gala. Great to hear about the hard work happening at every level to treat sarcoid and proud to have @UChicagoMed in the fight. Especially inspiring to hear patient success stories, including Ahsoka’s @TheRealJeryl.

In just 24 hours, the @UChicagoMed Heart and Vascular team performed three heart transplants — a rare and remarkable demonstration of expertise, coordination, and unwavering commitment to our patients.
This achievement reflects the extraordinary dedication of our multidisciplinary transplant team — surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, perfusionists, coordinators, and countless others — working seamlessly to give patients a second chance at life.
Every transplant is a story of hope. We are honored to be part of these journeys, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the donor families whose generosity made these life-saving gifts possible.
At UChicago Medicine, moments like this inspire us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in advanced heart failure and transplant care.

I’ve never been more ashamed of @UChicago than I am today. My heart goes out to all the children stuck in limbo from this obscene decision.
Bowing to federal pressure under the Trump administration, UChicago Medicine has become the latest Illinois hospital to end gender-affirming pediatric care.
