My opinion piece on Nikkei Asia regarding the recent physical attack on Americans in North China, the handling of such cases by the PRC government including the judiciary, and how it might affect geopolitics.

"Almost 70% of US voters unhappy with president’s conduct [of corruption]" according to Financial Times, which begs the question about the other 30%.
You shall not look away from this.
I am in tears and speechless. The scream of this father over the body of his 15 y.o. daughter is the sound of pure torture. Another #russia attack on civilians. Mid day in #Chernihiv . These terrorist monsters have no soul. They will not stop until stopped.

Mbappé might lose Chinese sponsors, but it's the Chinese people who pay the greatest price for questioning the Party, and of the past: "When it comes to controlling thought and speech, the Chinese Communist Party will always play to win." hrw.org/news/2026/10/29/mbap…
One cannot say Chairman Mao is a dictator? What about the PRC constitution that starts by defining the country as "a socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants"?

The CCP gets upset when you call Mao Zedong a dictator. It does not want you to know that 60 years ago Mao launched the Cultural Revolution, one of the darkest chapters in China's history. Watch to learn what happened, and how the oppression and tyranny of that era still shapes the Chinese Communist Party today: youtu.be/WgxlL-A7UMI?si=0EH1…

Assessment of Vivek by @EdwardGLuce more than two years ago, “utter twat,” has withstood the test of time.
I am absolutely disgusted by Vivek Ramaswamy. What he has done to his opponent, Dr. Amy Acton, is beneath any standard of human decency.
When Amy Acton was a child, she suffered horrific abuse. At the age of 12, she was removed from her mother’s custody after her stepfather was charged with sexually assaulting her. Her mother stood by her husband, and Amy has been estranged from her for decades.
Now, decades later, Vivek Ramaswamy has decided to exploit this painful childhood trauma for political gain.
His campaign produced an attack ad featuring Amy’s estranged mother accusing her own daughter of lying about her childhood. And he is spending $4 million promoting it.
What kind of disgusting human being does something like this?
Imagine being a child who suffers sexual abuse, whose own mother fails to protect her, and who spends decades trying to overcome that trauma. Then imagine running for public office, only to have your political opponent bring back the very person who failed you as a child to publicly humiliate you.
How morally bankrupt do you have to be to think this is acceptable?
And what kind of mother would participate in such a campaign against her own daughter?
I have seen some disgusting things in American politics, but this is a new low.
I don’t care whether you are a Republican or a Democrat. There are certain lines that no decent human being should ever cross. Exploiting the childhood sexual abuse of your political opponent is one of them.
And I have a particular question for Christians in Ohio who continue to support politicians who engage in this kind of behavior.
What kind of Christianity are you representing?
This is not Christianity. This is political idolatry.
Vivek Ramaswamy has shown us what he is willing to do to gain political power. He is willing to exploit the trauma of a woman who suffered sexual abuse as a child.
I find that absolutely disgusting.
And I would be shocked if any decent person could watch this ad, understand the facts behind it, and still defend what Ramaswamy has done.
There is no political victory worth sacrificing your humanity for.
Shame on Vivek Ramaswamy. And shame on everyone who supports this moral bankruptcy.

The Trump admin is in a typical autocrat's trap. Even when things have gone very wrong, they can never admit error or say that they are not in total control. But if they are all powerful, I never make mistakes, why aren’t things going well? Predecessors and enemies, of course! Foreign, domestic opposition, etc. But this soon wears thin, and the longer you’re in power, the less credible it is that someone else is responsible. So, in order to keep power, they turn to outrages, creating more enemies, repression, and election interference.
Friendly reminder that even under SCOTUS ruling in Trump v. United States (July 2024), a president has no immunity for unofficial (i.e., personal or private) acts, even if it is conducted while in office.

Wow, the US truly has the most incompetent president in history.
Just listening to how clueless this man is, it’s no wonder we have been humiliated in Iran.
Trump: “The Russians had a thousand tanks riding up a concrete highway. They would have been in Ukraine in four hours, going maximum tank speed, which is 48 miles an hour, to be exact. Nothing to stop them. The war would have been over in one day. And this very stupid general - I have no idea who he is. I doubt he’s still with us. I doubt he’s still living. He decided to hang a right onto the farmland and then take a left and go up to Kyiv, rather than staying on the highway - the concrete highway, perfectly good highway - where they were doing very nicely. It would have been three and a half, four hours, and the whole war would have ended. He ended up getting stuck in the mud.”
Does he understand that Ukrainian troops destroyed all the bridges and cut off the retreat points, so the only option left was to go off the highway? I mean, if you have the IQ of a 10-year-old child, you should be able to get it.
I am honestly shocked at the basic level of ignorance. And this is the man who is in charge of the US Army.
🕯️Today, Tat Cheng 鄭達鴻 spends his birthday unjustly imprisoned in #HongKong.
No one should spend time in prison for defending democracy.
We wish him a happy birthday and call for his immediate release, along with all political prisoners in Hong Kong

Predicable, as Yi Wang escalated request in Sept to “[Japan] soon affirmatively correct”/尽快纠正 its wording about Taiwan. Self censor + apology, or else. Time for Japan to threaten to air its archives about CCP collusion w Imperial Japan Army during WWII.

Here I fully support the admin. A slicker liar is needed.
Katie Zacharia dethrones @Scaramucci as shortest lived White House comms official. She lasted less than half a Scaramucci.
Everyone with basic knowledge on the unauthorized practice law or legal ethics in the U.S. would know that Katie Zacharia lied, however the White House tries to spin it. She should be held liable. What a start of one's first week of the spin doctor job.

Ukrainian soldiers and people associated with the military are reporting restrictions on Starlink service. Likely on the direct orders of Elon Musk. Despite the fact that Ukraine pays him for these services.
How this will help Russia, which is currently losing occupied Ukrainian territories, is for the military to comment on. I will speak to the impact on the civilian population.
Starlink is also used by the interceptors that protect Ukrainian cities from Russian jet-powered Shaheds. Without that protection, Russian drones will strike residential buildings, hospitals, and schools like targets in a shooting gallery.
Let me be blunt: the blood of Ukrainian children will be on the hands of the owner and the entire team of this American company.
