This year, for a milestone birthday, I gave myself a strange gift: I finished something I've been writing quietly for a while. It's called "In the Margins: Reflections of a Founder" We have thousands of books on the mechanics of building a company — how to scale, how to fundraise, how to optimize. We have very few that talk about how it actually feels. The isolation. The obsession. The costs. The strange, quiet joy of creating something from nothing. Over the last two decades of building, I started writing short reflections to process the emotional reality of the journey. I used the language I know best — physics, math, biology, and code — to try and capture the friction and flow of leadership. I'm sharing it because I want to help other builders feel a little less alone in the trenches and go further than they might otherwise. If you're building something, or if you love someone who is, this is for you. Available now in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle. Link: amazon.com/dp/B0H67CVVZ2 (If you grab a copy, a quick Amazon review would mean the world — early reviews are everything for a debut author.) Thank you to @geoffreyamoore, Carole Robin, Ph.D., @bfeld, @FrancesFrei, Irv Grousbeck, and others for their early endorsement. #entrepreneurship #founders #leadership

We're coming out of stealth. We've built our first racks after a successful A0 tapeout, $1B+ in customer contracts, and $800m raised. Early customer tests show us achieving SOTA throughput, latency, and power efficiency on inference workloads. Our first racks ship this summer.

I lost my brother Peter to suicide. Standard psychiatry failed him. Today we launch Meru Health Advanced — the care model I wish he'd had. For the next Peter.

There’s a growing gap between how the economy performs and how people experience it. For many, the link between hard work and opportunity is starting to feel less certain. In this week’s Unlearn Podcast, I sat down with Seth Levine, co-founder of @FoundryVC, to explore how capitalism is evolving and what that means for leaders today. Seth and I also built on ideas from my earlier conversation with @bfeld, especially around “Give First” and the role businesses play in creating long-term value. This conversation started with a simple question: Would you trade returns to live your values? 🔗 Listen to the full episode: barryoreilly.com/explore/pod… #unlearnpodcast #capitalevolution #leadership #ai

Most people chase startup growth with a “me first” mindset. @bfeld did the opposite. He built Techstars and countless startup communities by living one simple rule: Give First. This one truth separates successful founders from everyone else.🧵

What if the real fuel to build an ecosystem isn’t money or hustle, but radical generosity? For the latest episode of From Start-Up to Grown-Up, I sat down with Brad Feld, co-founder of Techstars, legendary founder and investor, and author of “Give First: The Power of Mentorship.” Brad talked about why he thinks a “give first” mentality benefits you personally in the long run. Some of my takeaways are: ➡️ Mentorship is a story, not a script. Great mentors share their lived experiences so founders can write their own playbooks. ➡️ Positive-sum thinking beats zero-sum deals. Design relationships that leave everyone better off over many turns, not just one transaction. ➡️ Recovery time is strategic. You have to prioritize what Brad calls “Planet You” to last over the long-term. ➡️ Invite randomness. Some of Brad’s biggest wins—including the birth of Techstars—started with a cold email and a 15-minute “random day” chat. 🎬 In this clip, Brad unpacks why graceful founder breakups protect both relationships and companies. 👉 Listen to the full episode here: lnkd.in/eU82iMbZ How has a “give first” moment shaped your journey? Share your story below so we can all learn together!

Coming up: @bfeld, Co-Founder of Foundry and @Techstars, doesn’t oversell mentorship. He’ll tell you what it’s not, before he says what it is. It’s not about hero complexes and being right—it’s about listening, sharing experience, and letting founders drive. 🚗
