Highly recommend reading this piece, it's insane. And can't say enough good things about Just Before Dawn. Absolutely classic.
The producer of the 1981 cult horror film “Just Before Dawn” has prevailed in a surreal courtroom battle against a DVD distributor who calls himself “The Demon.” The legal dispute began after producer Vlado Hreljanovic discovered the film was streaming on Shudder and being sold on DVD without his permission. The distributor, David DeFalco, who goes by “The Demon,” then taunted Hreljanovic in a series of unhinged livestream videos, calling him and his lawyers “f*cking maggots.” After two days of testimony and a day of deliberations, the jury found in Hreljanovic’s favor and awarded $46,000 in statutory damages. variety.com/2026/film/news/j…

Horror is fascinating because in 2026 it is a BIG tent, but some of the people inside of it couldn't be more different or LESS aligned in what they actually want. This is ok! But trying to square that will only lead to insanity.
A lot of people will be surprised when they find out how many people will give horror movies a low rating on the basis that it didn't scare them and nothing else, regardless of how well made it is. Horror is and always will be such a misunderstood and overly critiqued genre 🥲

People should give this a shot on streaming. I think in time it will find its audience.
OTHER MOMMY comes to Digital on November 10. Followed by physical media on December 29. Deleted and Alternate Scenes include: - Alternate Car Confrontation - Dancing at Grandma’s - Checking Bela’s Room - Taking a Bath

Clayface isn’t the horror movie it was sold to us as, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to like about it. The BGH crew is split this week by DC’s latest. New episode out now to soothe your Halloween hangover.

[watching a random Tales From The Crypt episode] Hell yeah. Big budget anthologies rock. The Crypt Keeper is my little buddy. [watching several Tales From The Crypt episodes in a row] This is the definitive psychosocial atlas of the American baby boomer's collective unconscious.

I have a take on this no one is going to like, but this discourse starts by training a generation to see every villain as a flawed person with trauma we should root for. Older generations remember when Darth Vader was just a monster, younger ones don’t. There’s a direct line between this discourse and several popular horror media things happening right now. Sometimes it’s ok for a villain to be one just because.
Lmfao TikTok is trying to cancel Freddy Krueger and it’s trending. I knew this day would come.

I really hope we learn about the Birds’ childhood
HBO is officially developing ‘THE BIRDS’, a new series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film. Starring Sarah Snook, the series is a modern-day reimagining of the film set in Alaska with a murder mystery at the center. (Source: Deadline)

The boat stuff in Jason Takes Manhattan is just as good as the NYC stuff and I'm sick of pretending like it's not.

This entire scene from this to the preacher has to be one of my favorite sequences in all of horror. Loomis with nothing to lose is tops.
Man, these kids were real assholes...

I would love for someone who actually understands the court ruling to explain this new world to me. Are we going to have two separate Jasons running around, one with a sack on his head and the other with the terrible new hockey mask?

I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe. Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development. • Set 600+ years after the Reaper War • You play as a customizable N7 agent • Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond • Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending • A galaxy divided into three major factions • Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together • Council races forming their own alliance • The Geth emerging as a third superpower • A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary • Geth-built megastructures • Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda • Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference • Hacking and manipulating the environment • See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more • Handcrafted missions like ME1-3 • But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them • Brutal close-range executions • Squadmates who can clash with each other • Romance wasn't being sanitised • Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist. It looked incredible. And now we may never get to play it. Find out more here: youtu.be/ZOWrTNazZxM #SaveMassEffect

Hollywood can back the slop truck up all they want but they will never make me forget the way things used to look.
It's pretty funny how these movies were considered low-brow shlock by critics when a good chunk of them are lit so much better than big budget movies now

The Insidious series has morphed into something barely recognizable from the haunting supernatural classic that started it all. Plus, The Devils overperforms at the box office and BGH approaches its 19th anniversary. New episode out now on all audio platforms.
