the creator of mario and zelda says we've reached an era where everyone can make games. nintendo legend shigeru miyamoto was asked about ai last week, and his response was... surprisingly positive? 👀 he thinks ai could give game devs more time to focus on what actually matters: making great games. and that's just one of the stories in this week's issue of @gamingfuturist. what else happened? ▶ over 1 in 3 steam next fest games now use ai ▶ epic is hosting an ai game jam with $65k in prizes and grants ▶ tim sweeney picked fights with indie asset creator kenney and valve ▶ ai helped jailbreak the switch 2 (someone put peter griffin in mario kart lol) issue 2 is out! read it here: thegamingfuturist.beehiiv.co… subscribe if you want these stories first.

y combinator gave 50 ai agents one job: build a civilization inside minecraft. they invented paperwork. food logs, permits, job titles, and rules. 4 agents spent 11 minutes deciding who could use fertilizer. for using it ONCE. here's what else happened in 3 hours: • chopped down every nearby tree in 90 seconds • 22 deaths on the first night • most agents hid indoors after that • sent each other 5,900 messages • picked a leader because her name was first on the list. then one ai threw food to a friend. another ai caught it and ate it. so they made a rule against throwing food. LOL. they also had claude compete against openai's ai in minecraft bed wars. claude got more kills in some matches but still lost 6 to 3. openai's ai kept going straight for the enemy bed. you can watch the replays and read the messages the agents sent each other. source: labs.ycombinator.com/project… h/t: @ycombinator & @olam_labs

AI is changing how games are built faster than most people realize... From asset creation to entire workflows, there's a lot happening and even more noise. 👀 Nice to see someone bringing it all together in one place. Worth a follow if you're building games 😉
ai is changing gaming every single week, and nobody was tracking it in one place. so i'm super excited to launch: @gamingfuturist . weekly insights and ideas on the intersection of ai and gaming. just last week: ▶ Epic vibe coded its new launcher ▶ Sega is pulling a Total War edition after bugs and AI upscaled art ▶ a top Steam game cancelled its demo over ai copycats Hiro (the snow leopard) will guide you through every issue. issue 1 is out: thegamingfuturist.beehiiv.co…

what's hiding behind the pixels? 👀 been sitting on this since 2023. it finally drops sunday. ai and gaming moves too fast to keep up with, so i'm making it fun to stay in the loop. the little guy peeking is Hiro (he's a snow leopard). you'll meet him soon. sunday, 10am EST. any guesses? 👇

someone built a multiplayer Attack on Titan in Minecraft in ONE HOUR. this would've taken a team and a few months without AI. 🤯 @nicksaraev used Opus 5.5 and it only cost him $25. what an interesting time to be in gaming. take down those titans here: attack-on-titancraft.netlify…

i've been sleeping on threads, they got banger prompts. prompt used: ---------- Please create a separate “Rubber Stamp Travel Field Notes Poster” for each photo I upload, compositing each photo individually without collage or multi-image combinations. Overall, use a 4:3 landscape composition, dividing the frame into left and right regions, but without drawing an obvious dividing line. The left side takes up about 58% of the frame, faithfully preserving the original photo. Accurately maintain the main subject identity, terrain, architecture, plants, people, spatial relationships, natural lighting and shadows, authentic textures, and color grading of the original photo. Apply only subtle color grading that stays true to the original photo, add extremely subtle, fine-grained film noise. For layout adaptation, natural cropping is allowed, but do not stretch, distort, shift, replace, or redraw the main subject. The right side makes up about 42% of the frame, using a warm off-white aged paper texture. The paper texture must show subtle grain, light water marks, and a matte texture, while preserving large areas of pristine paper whitespace, making the blank space an essential part of the layout. Analyze the original photo and extract the most location-distinctive subject outlines, architectural structures, terrain contours, plant forms, roads, shorelines, or other key visual relationships, compressing them into a small multi-color rubber stamp image. Do not replicate every single element from the photo item by item. Retain only the information strictly necessary to visually recognize the original location, subject, and scene relationships. Remove crowds, vehicles, dense windows, repetitive buildings, fragmented vegetation, decorative elements, and irrelevant backgrounds. The stamp is positioned in the lower-middle of the right-side paper area, occupying only about 30%–40% of the right region's height, with ample whitespace around it. The stamp must not be extracted from a standard illustration, full landscape painting, or brand logo. Determine the stamp's organization based on the original photo's composition: - Iconic architecture: Retain the most distinctive outer contours, roofs, domes, arches, towers, or main structures. - Mountain settlements: Compress buildings into a few terraced color blocks aligned along the terrain. - Coastal scenery: Simplify mountain contours, settlement layers, shorelines, and sparse intermittent water ripples. - City panoramas: Retain the main skyline, one iconic building, and one or two layers of distant mountains. - Natural landscapes: Retain primary mountain forms, trees, shorelines, or road contours and directions. - Foreground occasions: If narratively important in the original photo, retain as foreground stamp outlines. Extract 2–4 spot ink from the original photo. Prioritize desaturated colors like carbon black, deep green, brick red, ochre yellow, slate blue, or taupe brown, but do not force a fixed palette. Preserve the most distinctive color character from the original photo, allowing only a small used of color for visual emphasis. Render each color as a separately hand-stamped effect: Authentic rubber stamp carving texture, hand-engraved marks, uneven line widths, partial ink transfer, ink accumulation at the edges, ink seep through, granular ink, uneven pressure, partial ghosting, and about 1–2 mm of subtle misregistration. Allow natural misalignment between color layers; edges must not be digitally smoothed. The print should resemble a real carved stamp pressed onto aged paper, not a filtered photo, smooth vector illustration, or fine-art logo. Generate text based on the photo's location, theme, and visual imagery: Location English name No. Number Tourism English keywords The season Gregorian calendar year Place the text below or adjacent to the stamp in the whitespace, using a small, restrained, slightly mechanically imperfect typewriter font. The typography should evoke a traveler's field record, not an ad headline. Ensure all text is spelled accurately, without adding irrelevant slogans, brands, or decorative copy. The overall vibe is like field notes kept by an architect, travel writer, or natural observer: quiet, meticulous, understated, textured. The aged paper texture and ink imperfections evoke a collectible feel. The photo handles the site-record; the stamp captures the most recognizable fragments of memory. The date should display the date I enter: (28 April 2026) Avoid: Obvious central dividing lines, circular seals, Chinese red stamps, postage stamp perforations, wax seals, sticker collages, tourist souvenir templates, smooth vector logos, generic city icons, full replication of all architecture, dense detailing, childlike craftiness, cartoon style, 3D rendering, plastic textures, glossy digital gradients, overexaggeration, excessive text, decorative clutter, and redrawing or altering the left-side original photo. ----------

prompt: Design and create a very creative, elaborate, and detailed voxel art scene of the Toronto skyline as seen from Lake Ontario, presented as an open diorama on a floating slab of ground (no container, no bottle). Include the iconic landmarks: the CN Tower with its observation pod and antenna, the domed Rogers Centre stadium beside it, the dense cluster of glass condo towers along the waterfront, the ferry docks and boardwalk at the shoreline, and Lake Ontario in the foreground with animated voxel waves lapping against the harbour wall. Add a dynamic weather and seasons system controlled by simple UI buttons above the scene, in a clean card-style overlay like a title, a one-line description, and a row of toggle buttons: - Weather: sunny, cloudy, raining (voxel raindrops with splashes on the water and rooftops), snowing (snow accumulating on rooftops and the stadium dome), thunderstorm (lightning flashes lighting up the towers), and fog rolling in off the lake. - Seasons: spring (blossoming trees along the waterfront), summer (bright golden light, busy boats in the harbour), fall (orange and red foliage in the parks), winter (frozen lake edges, snow-covered rooftops, bare trees, warm glowing windows). - A "turn to dusk" / day-night toggle that transitions the sky through sunrise, golden hour, dusk, and night, with the CN Tower's LED lighting glowing in changing colours after dark and building windows lighting up. Make the scene impressive and varied: use colorful voxels, animated water, rain, snow, and drifting clouds, and interesting props like ferries, sailboats, seagulls, a streetcar passing along the waterfront, and the Toronto Islands in the distance. Weather and seasons should blend smoothly when switched rather than snapping. Everything should be procedurally generated from a fixed seed so the same scene loads every time. Let the viewer drag to orbit, scroll or pinch to zoom, and include an auto-orbit toggle. Show a small stat line with voxel and triangle counts. Use greedy meshing or face culling so it renders efficiently. Use WebGL and whatever libraries you need (e.g. Three.js via CDN), but make sure I can paste it all into a single HTML file and open it in Chrome.
