I find a this to be an incredible catch and great follow through. Thanks for this great case report, @DitchDocEM.
64 F presents to EMS w/epigastric pain which progressively worsened over the past 3 hours. No Hx except for mild HTN over the past 2 weeks, managed w/beta blockers by her PCM. Pt did not want #EMS, but a co-worker insisted and called 911. Dx? #ECG #EKG #Paramedic #FOAMed.

Some friends and I are starting a consortium of like-minded EMS systems that share CARES data for benchmarking and other best practices. In one week we've enrolled 9 systems. There's clearly a need for this and we're just getting started. 📊💪

Kids (and babies) feel pain. Kids remember pain. To not do something about peds pain is simply inhumane. How are you treating pain in peds? #FAST24 #FlightBridgeED

Have you ever heard of the ABC GET MOM acronym for pediatric toxicology emergencies? Allison Herman covered all things pediatric ingestions. Amazing lecture! What are some of your nightmare pediatric ingestion cases? #FAST24 #FlightBridgeED

Trauma arrest ≠ medical arrest.
Chest compressions won't fix hemorrhage, tension PTx, or tamponade. Fix those FIRST, then *maybe* compressions.
ACLS meds probably unhelpful too, but DO consider vasopressin +/- calcium.

We know that in medical cardiac arrest, chest compressions are the cornerstone of care b/c the pump is failing. In traumatic arrest, the problem is most likely hemorrhage or obstruction. Compressions won’t fix those! -Dr. Zaffer Qasim #FAST24

What an amazing way to open the first day of FAST24. Scott Weingart discussed how patients deserve “Maximally Aggressive Care, Everywhere!” The level of care a patient receives should not be limited to their geographical location in the hospital.

I've mapped this data onto Google Maps, categorizing each incident by the cause of death. Heart attacks represent 38.8% (1,449) of the fatalities within this timeframe. google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?m…
Each loss is a tragedy that resonates beyond the firehouse, impacting families and communities at large. I encourage you to explore this map to foster discussions on these incidents and their implications. – at North Carolina, USA
Additionally, the CDC and NIOSH's Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program (FFFIPP) provides in-depth investigations and reports on line-of-duty deaths since 1994, offering insights on preventative measures. cdc.gov/niosh/fire/data.html – at North Carolina, USA
Heart attacks remain the foremost cause of #LODD among #firefighters. The United States Fire Administration has released an extensive database covering line-of-duty deaths from January 1, 1990, to December 31, 2021, documenting 3,642 incidents. apps.usfa.fema.gov/firefight…

Study finds underutilization of AEDs during cardiac arrest, even where mandated. Despite laws requiring AED availability, bystander usage remains low, highlighting the need for improved awareness and training.
