Eu não sou muito de recomendar distros com base Debian, kubuntu é muito bom, mas muito limitado, vc pode chegar a estranhar um pouco de início, mas se quiser começar por uma distro que tu não estranhe muito, tem o BigLinux e o que eu mais recomendo, o Fedora
