Last week, the Naval Service celebrated 80 years since its establishment, on the 1st of September 1946, with a special event in Haulbowline.
The occasion brought together serving personnel, veterans, families and friends to reflect on eight decades of dedication, commitment and service to the State.
From those who laid the foundations in 1946 to the generations who continue to serve today, this anniversary recognises the people behind the uniform and their contribution to protecting Ireland's maritime domain.

Just as well Italy has an air intercept capability.
Imagine what would have happened if the Ryanair aircraft was actually on its return leg to Ireland when the incident occurred! 🤷🏼♂️ ✈️

The Italian air force released these images of their fighter jets escorting a Ryanair flight into Rome airport after a bomb threat.
It was one of two flights from Dublin that were affected by a wave of fake bomb threats around Europe

In @independent_ire we believe our history is important, we believe it should be preserved 📷📷📷
We believe that when the government declares an area a National Monument NINE years before the 1916 centenary that should be more than enough time to have it ready for such an important event...📷
This is why we will be supporting the @MooreSt_Trust Reclaim Moore Street Rally on Saturday, calling on the government to get off its backside and do something!!

"Mary McAleese is attacking infant baptism — and the parents who choose it for their children." MARIA MAYNES says it’s time for the Catholic bishops to stop being afraid of McAleese and her broken record:

Mary McAleese says baptising a baby is a breach of human rights because the child can't consent.
With respect, that's wrong.
Parents make decisions for their children every single day. What school they go to. What values they're raised with. What they eat, what they wear, who minds them. A baby can't consent to any of it. That's what being a parent is.
Faith is no different. If parents want to have their child christened, that's their call. If they'd rather not bring their child into any religion, that's their call too. It's a decision for the family, and nobody else.
Every child grows up and makes up their own mind. Plenty do.
Families in this country have enough to be worrying about without being told that bringing their child to be christened is a human rights abuse.
Leave parents alone. Let them raise their children as they see fit.
Total greed by @IRFURugby . Empty seats are not good for rugby.
