Know what city didn't get - or apply for - the big grant? The one that's broke and begging for loans and tax increases. Great job @CityOfNOLA.
Baton Rouge just got a big federal Model Cities grant, and both Letlow and Cassidy are claiming credit. Complicated times in the LA GOP.

Peaceful fall evening at the Grotto.
After a mere three months of this crystal spring flowing from the road in front of my house, two cones have appeared. Guessing that means we're 18-24 months from a repair? @SWBNewOrleans

.@JPMorrell while you imagine everyone is pumping their fists understanding some hidden message when you pull the plastic moon toy off your shirt, the overwhelming majority of adults are cringing. Creepy for an adult leading the @NOLACityCouncil.

Don't say I didn't try to warn. The idiots running this city just rinse and repeat glaring unforced errors from the past, no matter how many citizens have to suffer in the process.

I wonder what all those Ole Miss accounts which stay obsessed with LSU are thinking as they get SKULL DRAGGED by Texas. 😭

Being used to release illegal immigrants into America, yes. Because neither the 5th nor 14th amendments apply to non-citizens who unlawfully sneak in. Detention until the next flight home.

HUGE: The en banc Fifth Circuit just held, 11-6, that illegal aliens caught in the interior can be detained without bond for the duration of their removal proceedings. Judge James Ho in a concurring opinion: "A nation ceases to be a nation if it can't protect its borders."

I was OPSO general counsel when this "cap" was put in place. It was always illegal and unenforceable by the City, hence why it was shrugged off and didn't push back. No need. The City is required to provide a jail sufficient to hold ALL of the prisoners detained pursuant to the Court's detention holds. Municipalities have no authority to ignore that law via "caps." @susanguidry's moronic fight to artificially reduce the size of the jail has caused the City of New Orleans to continually be in violation of state law.
The Orleans Parish jail held 1,430 people Wednesday—180 over the city's legal cap. Sheriff Woodfork says overcrowding is blocking a new medical facility and federal compliance. She's requesting $17 million to fix it. wwltv.com/article/news/local…

The last time I was present at a meeting (waiting to testify for an agency budget... the ONLY reason I'd be within 500 ft) where yall were "regulating" a company, it was questions about how many LGBTQ+ employees it had on staff, climate change and DBE percentages. Clueless.
Let's take a break from budget to talk about regulating Waymo 🚖 You may have seen Waymo vehicles across the city recently. Autonomous vehicles like Waymo are an emerging industry that is looking to expand here in New Orleans. instagram.com/p/Dej5ub4DhR4/
