Who's the next Caicedo/Kante type DM available right now?
Given how good and settled Nyoni is now, i don't want another all round technician DM. The midfield is a little too porous with the profile of DMs we have:
Mac Allister
Gravenberch
Nyoni
I don't need another all action DM like Camara. I want a specialist shin kicker, workhorse, and bulldozer, who'll make the midfield difficult to play through.
Araujo's aggressiveness and defensive instincts makes pushing him into this role a reasonable shout.
He has the physical strength to compete with powerful midfielders, shield the ball, and engage ball-carriers aggressively.
He has good recovery pace.
He has very good aerial ability that would be useful against direct long balls and second balls.
His bulldog mentality and frontfooted aggressiveness will push him to step forward and disrupt attacks before opponents settle.
He's already good enough on the ball and he can easily be functional when it comes to distribution.
⚠️ If only I could inject him with Gravenberch's ability to receive the ball under pressure from multiple directions, and the ability to read midfield situations, he'd be good for the type of DM i prefer.
Trent has eaten enough humble pie at this point, I don't mind bringing him back on loan if we're in the title race and UCL come January.
We've seen how beneficial Araujo's loan has been. Imagine having back Conor Bradley, Leoni, Ekitike, and adding a new DM and Trent to this squad in January. That will be an insane title boost midseason.
If we're not in a title race by January, and we have Conor Bradley available, then i don't see the point in bringing back that rat 🐁
Tsimikas and Gravenberch should bow their heads in shame regardless of the win. They cost the team in 90 minutes and the pens too
The particular award scheme does not give the premier league the respect it deserves.
Kane is deservedly the best player this year, but he's not winning it if he replicated the same performance he's had this year with Bayern, in the EPL. For starters, he wouldn't score the same amount of goals even if he played for the best team in the league.
Salah had a stellar individual season with numbers to back it in the most difficult league in football, and played better than Dembele the Balon d'Or winner yet he did not make top 3.
