I genuinely think Selena Gomez & The Scene moved on from their pop-rock sound too soon. Their dance pop eras gave us CLASSICS, but the original band concept had so much potential. I wish they’d given it another album to evolve.
RARE FACT: When Selena Gomez was preparing to release her debut album in 2009, she wanted to form a band rather than pursue a traditional solo pop career.
Inspired by bands like Paramore, she pushed for the group concept, which eventually became Selena Gomez & The Scene. Even the name had a story behind it: Selena used “The Scene” as a playful response to people calling her a wannabe scene kid.
