Due to growing fear over technological advancement, I think it's important we all remember the following moment from Star Trek season two, episode twenty: "Return to Tomorrow."
Fun fact, this episode aired one year *before* Apollo 11 landed on the moon!

It was a delight chatting with @drmichaellevin for my new podcast, Human Potential Lab. We nerded out about where genius comes from. Watch the full episode: youtube.com/watch?v=XTL9PxDm…

He’ll never know this but Patrick Stewart showed countless boys how to be men. He showed that strength didn't have to mean intimidation, that intelligence should come with humility, and that you could - and should - stand up for what was right even when it cost you something.

This one hurts really bad for me.
I grew up with Patrick Stewart. I’m not exaggerating when I say that TNG is the reason I am who I am and why I have the values and morals that I do. Captain Picard taught me everything I know about being a good, decent, empathetic person

When I was a kid there was a TV show about a space ship where humans met the universe with competence, nobility, and expansive, powerful compassion.
This is still the future worth living in and the one worth fighting for

RIP Sir Patrick Stewart (1940–2026). 🖖
What a tremendous loss. For me, he will always be Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He made intelligence, wisdom, diplomacy, and compassion look heroic. The kind of leader you could genuinely look up to.
From Shakespeare to Star Trek and X-Men, he was an extraordinary actor with an unmistakable voice and presence.
Thank you for everything, Captain. You will be missed.
Make it so. 🖖

This one hurts. Thank you for a body of work and countless examples through yourself and your characters of what to do and how to act in many situations. Rest well, my Captain. #WhatWouldPicardDo

We are saddened to learn of the death of British actor Patrick Stewart. Among his many star-making roles, Stewart led “Star Trek: The Next Generation” as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for seven seasons, frequently returning to the role in films and the 2020 tv series “Star Trek: Picard.” Stewart’s depiction of the iconic Starfleet caption illustrated the range of space science fiction as a device for adventure, imagination, and storytelling.

Just learned that Patrick Stewart has passed away. Such a sad loss. Here he is in one of the best things ever put on television, the Star Trek episode “The Measure of a Man.” I show it to my students in Philosophy and Science Fiction every year.

Machen Sie‘s gut, Captain Picard!
