Indeed where’s that breathing space for everyone - well said Paul Bowen #CommunityImpactMatters #StopPilingItOn #AnotherPolicyAnotherTax
‘John Healey, if you’re listening, where’s my breathing space?’ Business owner Paul Bowen has criticised the Chancellor’s promise to give ‘breathing space’ through measures in his Budget. #budget #businesses #costofliving

The Budget was a disaster for Hospitality. I hoped the Government would finally listen and deliver. I’m sad to admit I was wrong. Rates relief means little when employment and operating costs keep rising. What matters is the total bill landing on the doormat, and whether there’s enough left to keep people employed and the doors open and this budget helped just 2.9% of Hospitality venues - and only just. The cavalry didn’t just fail to turn up. They ran away. Hospitality has been patient. We’ve put forward the evidence, explained the consequences and made the case for a VAT cut. We cannot keep running on warm words. To the MPs who have publicly backed a cut, thank you. Whatever your party, that support matters. To those who haven’t: don’t expect endless hospitality while staying silent about the policies putting us out of business. Perhaps it’s time the welcome on our doors reflected the support we get through yours. #Hospitality #CutVAT #VatinlinewithEurope

If I get elected, i will stop the cavalry said Jona Lewie!! This guy has just stuck the knife in to kill off the hospitality sector - not send in the cavalry to help….. Dear god, if this is supposed to help…….. #DontPunishTheLocal #ThePubDidntDoIt #ThisIsWhyPublicansDrink

When an award winning m, top operator says this people really should listen but they won’t !! #PubsAreWorthFightingFor #FairRulesForPubs #HandsOffOurPubs
Currently absolutely no financial reason for us to keep ploughing away at our business. We’d be far, far better off on benefits… and a lot less stressed! Where’s the hope & aspiration in that @andyburnham ?

The gaggle of morons.
A big Budget for economic growth. Decisive moves on energy, devolution and backing business. Proud to have worked with @JohnHealey_MP to deliver it.

If the overnight tax works so well in the EU then maybe hospitality should have the same sort of differential VAT rates as other EU countries 🤔

Would reply to this parody Mp account but for challenging some of the rubbish the real one spouts he’s blocked me - useful idiots holding the purse strings in our government it seems 🤷‍♂️ Or is this the real one - your guess……

Life’s lessons that nobody wants to hear 🤷‍♂️
The spite from the interviewer at the suggestion that taxpayers shouldn’t pay for people on benefits to live wherever they want is nuts. No, people can’t live wherever they want. That’s life.

This reminds me of the Adolescence exchange. Badenoch is saying something which won't seem radical to the public - though many will disagree - and it's being responded to like some sort edgelord hot take.
'You should aspire to live wherever you want to live, but you shouldn't aspire for the government, i.e. other taxpayers, to pay for you to live wherever you want to' Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch told #BBCBreakfast she would target housing allowance as one of the measures to reduce spending on welfare bbc.co.uk/news/topics/c2jq3d…

Honestly can’t believe the saviour of hospitality and tourism is standing up for this tax/levy 🤦‍♂️
There's a lot of misinformation flying around about the Tourism levy, so here's the actual facts: It's about investing more money in our communities. Visitors come to our towns and cities every year. This gives local leaders the option to levy a small charge on the cost of their accommodation and reinvest that money into local needs. It's local choice, not a national tax. The government is providing the framework, but it's for mayors and local communities to decide whether a levy is right for their area and what it should look like. Budget trips are protected. Because the levy is linked to the cost of accommodation, lower-cost stays will pay less, meaning cheaper holidays and short breaks remain affordable. This is part of the wider devolution agenda. This is about trusting mayors and local leaders with more powers and more control over decisions that affect their local economy.

One of the all-time great Rock Hall moments: Dolly’s “Jolene” with Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Pink, and Sheryl Crow. Zac Brown Band held it down as the house band. Rest easy, Dolly 🤘
