Really enjoyed this essay on MIDDLEMEN in the latest @bookforum, which articulated some of the limits of structural studies of publishing (as much as I love them).

Dupuy-Spencer took on the politics of the Trump era in her paintings, which were often huge in scale, vast in historical purview, and complex in their moral posture. One of her most famous works was "Father, Don't You See that I am Burning," a painting of the January 6 riot.

Dupuy-Spencer's work confronts politics and moral failure; her death tasks us with understanding the burden of witness. Please read: bookforum.com/print/3301/por…

You should subscribe to @Granta tho, not only because my prose like everyone's looks better in print, but so that you can e.g. read in the same issue @_jessebarron's "Transference in the Afternoon," which as journalism abt psychoanalysis is something Janet Malcolm would've envied

"This fresh and smart volume of criticism on Morrison’s work pierces with a playfulness that can only come from intimate knowledge.... Whoever eventually writes ON SERPELL will have a difficult task ahead of them." Last line is the way to a writer's heart!
