Nancy Pelosi, who is regularly hammered for her perceived insider trading, has made 213 total trades since 2014. Trump exceeded that number in a single day, which just happened to precede his own tariffs announcement. My latest on the mind boggling self-enrichment:

John Cowperthwaite did more for human prosperity than any development economist drawing a government salary ever managed, and he did it by refusing to do almost anything at all. As Hong Kong's Financial Secretary from 1961 to 1971, Cowperthwaite ran one of the most radically free economies the modern world has ever seen. He kept taxes flat and low (the top income tax rate sat at 15%), ran consistent budget surpluses, abolished import tariffs, and blocked nearly every subsidy request that crossed his desk. When British civil servants demanded economic statistics to justify intervention, he refused to collect them. Not out of laziness. He genuinely believed that giving planners numbers gave them excuses. The results? In 1960, Hong Kong's per capita income stood at roughly 28% of Britain's. By 1997, Hong Kong had surpassed Britain. That trajectory happened without natural resources, without foreign aid, and without a single five-year plan drafted by well-intentioned economists from Oxford. Hong Kong had a harbor, people willing to work, and a bureaucrat with enough intellectual discipline to keep the state out of their way. Capital flows toward secure property rights and reliable rules, and flees the moment politicians start allocating it. Every industry Beijing picked as a "priority sector" during those same decades burned through subsidies and produced junk. Hong Kong's industries emerged organically, serving real demand, building real wealth. You benefit from this history whether you know it or not, because Hong Kong's success gave the world a controlled experiment that still embarrasses every advocate of managed development. The control group thrived. The planned economies didn't. Cowperthwaite retired to St Andrews, received a knighthood, and gave almost no interviews. That restraint was entirely in character.

Milton Friedman: “In the long run, government will spend whatever the tax system will raise, plus as much more as it can get away with. That’s what history tells us.” “So my view has always been: cut taxes on any occasion, for any reason, in any way that’s politically feasible, as the only way to keep down the size of government.”

Same.
I'm 63 and would be happy to forego all the dollars I've poured into Social Security if it would be ended immediately and the payroll tax scrapped.

Any argument for '"Heritage American" is simply an argument for an American Caste System. Hilarious that it is the one stupid thing they want to adopt from Indian culture.

Canada's MAID euthanasia program (administered by doctors) kills more people annually than U.S. gun homicides
When doctors go on strike, the death rate falls. It has been measured every time it has happened. Israel, 1973: doctors strike for a month. Deaths in Jerusalem drop by half. The undertakers notice first. Los Angeles, 1976: surgeons strike for 5 weeks over insurance. The county death rate falls, then climbs back to normal the week they return and the postponed operations begin. Israel again, 1983 and 2000. Same result. Bogotá, 1976. Same. A review of every strike on record found that mortality either stayed flat or went down. Not once did it rise. Here is why. Medical error is the third leading cause of death in America, after heart disease and cancer, at around 250,000 a year. It does not appear on a death certificate because there is no box for it. In Britain, 1 hospital admission in 16 is caused by a reaction to a drug the patient was correctly prescribed. Properly prescribed medicines, taken as directed, kill about 100,000 Americans a year. That figure is 30 years old and nobody has updated it, because nobody is paid to. The hospital is one of the most dangerous buildings a well person can enter, and the most dangerous thing in it is the pad. So the next time your doctor is on strike, do what the data says and stay home, eat a steak and have a lie down. Statistically it is the safest appointment you will get all year.

Posobiec's point is that a congressman born in New Delhi doesn't get to say what America is. The great irony is that in 1924 nobody in Congress thought a Polish name like Posobiec got a say either. Same with Ricciardella. The Immigration Act of 1924 was written to keep more of them out. My family Americanized the pronunciation and kept it that way, and it still took generations and intermarriage for the family to catch up to the name. We didn’t stop being Italian-American. We became American. Whether an immigrant assimilated is a fair question. But Posobiec skipped it and went straight to the name. Maybe his family assimilated so completely that he mistakes the nativism his own ancestors overcame for something authentically American.
