Luka's start to the season has been nothing short of historic. The shot creation & shotmaking, the passing. Everything he's mastered is dialed up to 200%.
However, there's also been a shift in process that's slowly developed over the years and we're finally seeing the actaulization of a more diverse Luka, who grabs the low hanging fruit and finds easier offense for himself.
That shows up in two distinct areas.
The Lakers have taken him off the ball more. Instead of forcing him to initiate everything against constant pressure, they'll often have somebody else start the possession while he either runs off a screen, or sets up in a more advantageous spot on the floor. This not only makes him harder to double, it empowers his teammates and helps him conserve energy for late-game pushes.
More importantly though, he's made pace a point of emphasis. He's hunting for offense early in the clock, before defenses can set, and that's why I think he's setting himself up for far and away his most valuable & most efficient offensive season.
Here are his "true shot attempts" in transition each season, per 75 possessions:
2019 - 3.9
2020 - 3.7
2021 - 2.7
2022 - 1.8
2023 - 3.5
2024 - 5.0
2025 - 2.4
2026 - 5.3
2027 - 7.4 (68.9% TS)
He's currently the 4th highest volume transition shooter, only behind Jaime Jaquez, Giannis, and Caleb Wilson.
If he can maintain that volume, or anything close to it, while continuing to get off the ball more, and being the game's best half court creator...
...it feels like we're getting closer & closer to one of the GOAT offensive peaks. And it's no longer about a gaudy box score, it's about hitting all of the margins that lead to the best possible team offense.

"As I shall take the liberty of making but a single criticism of Mr. Besant, whose tone is so full of the love of his art, I may as well have done with it at once. He seems to me to mistake in attempting to say so definitely beforehand what sort of an affair the good novel will
be. To indicate the danger of such an error as that has been the purpose of these few pages; to suggest that certain traditions on the subject, applied a priori, have already had much to answer for, and that the good health of an art which undertakes so immediately to reproduce
