يقوم مشروع صون تراث السودان الحي هذا الأسبوع بتقديم أوراق علمية ولوحة عرض عن البيئة والثقافة في المؤتمر العلمي الدولي المشترك الأول الذي يقام في المتحف الوطني بكينيا. تحت عنوان "استخدام الموارد البيولوجية لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة وحفظ الطبيعة والتكيف مع المناخ". سيقوم بتقديم الأوراق العلمية كل من الدكتور خالد شمبول والدكتورة إكرام مدني.
This week SSLH are presenting papers by Dr Khalid Shamboul and Dr Ikram Medani, and a Poster on climate and culture at the 1st Joint International Scientific Conference at the National Museum of Kenya (NMK). The theme is ‘Utilisation of Biological Resources for Sustainable Development, Nature Conservation, and Climate Resilience.’

تنمو شجرة البلانيت إيجيبتياكا، أو شجرة الَّالوبا، في منطقة السافانا في السودان. واستخدموا الشجرة وثمارها لقرون لأغراض مختلفة؛ استفادوا من الخشب، وأوراقها ممكن يطبخوها في ملاح، وممكن تستخدم ثمارها كملين طبيعي. في السودان، بيذكرنا اسم الالوبا باستخدام فريد، وبيكون بربط أحجار الفاكهة مع بعض لتكوين "الألفية"، وهي سبحة مكونة من ألف قطعة، وبتدل على عمق وطول الوقت المخصص للعبادة على وجه الخصوص من قبل أتباع الطائفة الصوفية.

The Balanite aegyptiaca, or laloba tree, grows in the savannah region of Sudan. The tree and its fruit have been used for centuries for numerous purposes; for its wood; its leaves can be cooked in stews; and its fruit are taken as a natural laxative. In Sudan the name laloba evokes another use, this time for the fruit’s stones which are strung together to make the alfiyah, the thousand-piece rosary, indicative of the depth and length of time dedicated to worship, in particular by Sufi sect followers.
