Something I don’t talk about much, and certainly not in public, is how I came to care so much about public transit. I wasn’t one of those kids who obsessed over route schedules and maps.
I grew up in an abusive home in the suburbs. 🧵 1/10

New Research! I analyzed 19M SFMTA parking tickets & 300K illegal parking complaints to see what the city is prioritizing.
Only 5% of all tickets are for violations that affect public safety while 100s of repeat offenders are driving around w/ impunity.🧵 transpomaps.org/san-francisc…

Fridays on Great Highway Park are under threat!
Despite massive support for Prop J (and opposition to Prop I), some Supervisors are listening to Great Highway Park opponents who want to take away the Park on Fridays.

San Francisco has a car-related death and injury crisis. One of our only tools—enforcement of traffic laws—is ineffective and nearly nonexistent.
If we want to achieve #VisionZero, SFPD needs to be more effective. An op-ed / thread on how they can do it 🧵sfgate.com/politics-op-eds/a… – at San Francisco, CA

My latest column: 45 cops work in the San Francisco Police Dept's traffic division. Together, they're issuing just 10 traffic citations a day -- a plunge from 74 citations a day three years ago. "What exactly are they doing?" asked a safe streets advocate. sfchronicle.com/sf/bayarea/h…

Tonight we blocked cars at Leavenworth & Ellis to protest one of many avoidable deaths due to traffic violence that occurred in the last 2 weeks. The victim was an elder and a human being.
We demand @LondonBreed @jeffreytumlin and @sfmta_muni take action on a safe TL now!

I support the proposed closure to car traffic on JFK Drive. This has been an essential space for our residents and families during this pandemic, and I believe it can be a long-term benefit to this city.
We have a lot of work to do to address a number of issues we've heard.

Tonight we protested the city’s complete mismanagement of Valencia Street. While cars were loading in the bike lane, we paused car traffic to create a safe route for bikes.

Cities are for people!!!
LOOK at all these people enjoying the #GreatWalkway
Most residents of SF do not own a car. Let’s remember that when we decide how our space is allocated.
Thanks @braitsch for this great video
I'm sad to miss the rally this morning to save the #greatwalkway so I made a video of some of my favorite moments on it this summer. Enjoy! ♥️🚶🏽♂️🚴♀️🛴🛹🤙
