Democracy, Donald Trump, and Tide laundry detergent. Do you know what they have in common? It’s no laughing matter. Do you know why a company like TIDE, spends tens of millions of dollars sponsoring race car drivers? The advertising executives for Tide know that people who follow NASCAR and the like, are very passionate, and feel very intense positive emotions when watching a race car event. They know, that just as Ivan Pavlov discovered…things that occur at, or near the same time, get linked together by our nervous system. When a fan is experiencing those intense emotions, while they are being bombarded by images of TIDE…as the race cars come around on each lap, those feelings….and Tide….are going to be linked. Once they are adequately linked, even an unconscious recognition of a Tide product in our peripheral vision can trigger those positive emotions, and increase the odds of us choosing that brand. This is how all advertising works. The formula? Present two things together often enough, while intense emotions are present, and they will become linked in the neurology of those human beings. In short, one, will trigger the other. They become one and the same. Nazi flags at Trump related events are so much more destructive than most anyone imagines them to be. Supporters of Donald Trump feel very intense emotions while watching or attending his events. Feeling those emotions while having the symbol of the Nazi party available to them…is re-wiring their brains…literally. I beg the @DOJNatSec to take this matter seriously. We need to see you acting with the sense of urgency this deserves. This is not a “freedom of speech” issue. This is advertising for domestic terrorists.
