Big surprise: Ohio and Indiana, two red states home to communities that may not be predisposed to the climate benefits of clean energy, are suddenly top-5 states for solar. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Los Angeles is moving to end oil drilling within city limits. On Wednesday, the city voted to ban new wells and phase out existing wells over the next 20 years, further pitting the city and state against the Trump admin's push to expand oil and gas: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

In August I tried to summit Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the lower 48, after two days of downpours at the trailhead. More people than ever are heading outdoors. Weather and access are getting harder. My essay for @luxury: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Two neighbors live less than 2,000 feet apart. One pays up to $500/month for electricity. The other averages $130. One has investor-owned National Grid. The other, a municipal utility. @PopovichN and I dug into America’s widening power-bill divide: bloomberg.com/graphics/2026-…

I’ve lived here 6.5 years and been to a few dozen Dodgers games in that time. Not once have I gotten the impression that Dodgers fans aren’t die-hards.
I moved to Los Angeles 14 years ago and absolutely love it. I have also traveled around the country and attended more sporting events than I could possibly count. LA is not a sports town in any sense of the word. It is an entertainment town. A high proportion of residents grew up elsewhere rooting for other teams. If a team is competing for championships and playing a big game the people will turn lot. If it’s not they won’t. In many places the fans are true for hards. There is fluctuation but they pretty much show up regardless. Very few people in LA die hard for their teams. They just find something else to do. Pretty simple.
