How does the hippocampal awake ripple play a role in facilitating emotional memory encoding? Excited to share my work with IvanSkelin and @linjj4, now published in @NatureComms! Check out more here rdcu.be/du45w

Excited to share my new collaboration with Lukas Kunz (@lks_kunz ) in which we show that neurons in the human brain encode 2D positions in space.... an emotion space, that is, defined by valence and arousal! And, they do it, dare I say, in a grid-like pattern?

You know what I'm going to say. The more we look at cognition, the more rhythmic it looks. Nucleus reuniens transiently synchronizes memory networks at beta frequencies nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Dr. An Wu, a good friend and a brilliant neuroscientist from UCSD, is missing during the major fire in an @Airbnb at Montreal after attending the @CosyneMeeting. We have been desperately looking for her for >72 hours. My heart goes out to her family. @CBCNews @sarahleavittcbc
# Chinese scholar # Old Montreal fire A large fire broke out in a historical building in Old Port District of Montreal, Canada at 5:45 am on Thursday. 6 people remain missing, among which is a promising young Chinese scholar, Dr. An Wu, who came to Montreal for a conference.

Feeling like GRR Martin here, but after 5-6 years it is finally out! Can't even explain why it took such time as we had a clear idea what we were looking for: spatial computing! nature.com/articles/s41467-0… Several follow ups in progress. Hopefully will not take another 5 years...

I am happy to share our new paper now on @Science. We discovered that rapid eye movements (REM) during sleep provide a readout of the internal representation of head direction, suggesting they could reveal gaze shifts in dreams. Link:science.org/doi/epdf/10.1126… -Brief🧵follows⬇️ 1/7
