State of the trenches: are we back or not? Meme coins are exploding again ICOs are becoming more popular Multiple TGEs are set to happen in Q1 alone Trading activity and volume are spiking But the most important question is, "Are we really back?" Here's what the data says 👇🏽 #1. Memecoin creation landscape I'm sure by now you've been seeing all sorts of meme tickers on the TL, and we've already had some tokens do decent numbers. The reason for this is simple: people are suddenly bullish on meme coins again On Jan 1, 2026, only 1905 tokens were created across memecoin platforms like Bonk, Moonshot, PumpFun, and even Jup Studio Five days later, that number hit 36,401 Since then, we've been averaging 30k in created tokens. We still have a long way to go from the 2025 highs, but I expect this trend to continue for some time, especially since meme launchpads are stepping up their game. For example, @Pumpfun just rolled out a new model for creator fees with new features like fee sharing and so on. Observe with me #2. Token Performance Review While it may be a good thing that more tokens are getting created, that data alone can be misleading. I'll show you why. In the past 24 hours alone, more than 24.9k tokens have been created on PumpFun 1.1k on Bonk However, only 163 and 8 tokens graduated. Let me put this into proper perspective for you. It means that: ONLY 1 in 145 tokens make it to graduation 144 out of 145 tokens die before reaching any milestone In other words, if you're trenching meme coins right now, you are already facing a potential failure rate of 99.3% Those are very crazy odds to be trading with. Meanwhile, the fact that a token makes it to graduation does not even mean that it'll be viable because many tokens fail after graduating. So overall, your potential success rate may be as low as 0.3% to 0.5% Thread carefully #3. Prediction markets are the new frontier If you plan on making money from "trading" in current market conditions, then you should be looking closely at prediction markets. The truth is: Prediction markets is where most institutional and retail attention is right now. And it makes sense. Instead of struggling with a <0.5% success rate, prediction markets offer something close to 50% (you either bet yes or no) It is simple and direct. In Jan 2025, the notional volume of prediction markets was around 720k Right now, in Jan 2026, that number is already above $5M And allow me to remind you that the more "exotic" prediction market metas like leveraged prediction markets by @intodotspace have not even been introduced yet.
