24 yıl çalıştım Bilgi Üniversitesi'nde. Bilgi’nin en sevdiğim yanı sadece ders anlatan bir üniversite olmamasıydı. Yıllarca Kuştepe’nin yoksul halkına kapılarını açtı, okuma yazma eğitimlerinden bilgisayar kurslarına, spor çalışmalarından meslek edindirme programlarına kadar çocukların, gençlerin, Roman halkının güçlenmesi için çabaladı. Sonra Dolapdere Kampüsünde de aynı şeyi yaptı. Mahallenin çocuğunu, gencini, kırılganını dışlamadan kucakladı, geliştirdi.
İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi binlerce öğrencinin hayali, yüzlerce akademisyenin emeği, bu ülkenin hafızasıydı.
Kuştepe’den Dolapdere’ye, yoksul mahallelere, kırılgan gruplara, gençlere dokunan bir sosyal adalet fikriydi.
Bugün yaşanan sadece bir kurumun kapanışı değil, yılların birikiminin, emeğinin, akademik özgürlüğünün ve ortak hafızasının dağılmasıdır.
