It pains me to say...but those who warned me early on to separate my politics from my BBQ content were right! So those that enjoy the BBQ content follow over @ the new Weekend BBQ Vibes Twitter handle. It will be strictly BBQ. Over here will be personal. 👇

For those who cried “bullshit”—wrong again.
Hours ago, @POTUS reaffirmed: AMERICAN WORKERS FIRST.
To the foreign labor visa fraudsters: expect a knock at the door.

Good call!! Plenty of state parks and bear preserves across the state of North Carolina where people and this bear can live a happy life! 👇
A bear that broke into multiple homes and injured a north Asheville resident will not be killed once captured, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission announced.

Wow, Jake Paul from the top rope!!
👀👍👇
🇺🇸 Jake Paul thinks the Second Amendment is falling behind modern warfare
Jake says pistols and shotguns mean something very different when governments have access to drones, autonomous robots and increasingly advanced weapons.
“We maybe need to be able to bear more advanced weapons systems as citizens.”
His examples? Drones, EMPs, RPGs and potentially anti-helicopter weapons.
Yeah... this conversation escalated quickly😳

It all started right here on the family farm with my granddaddy. He loved NC and would put me on his lap and tell me NC history stories that provoked my imagination. His sister my great Aunt Lois was a school teacher who lived on the family farm with him would also tell me stories as she was a NC school teacher for 50 years and graduated from then Teachers college (what is now ECU). She told me stories till the day she passed at the age of 93.

On this day in North Carolina history September 19, 1985.
Elizabeth II made its maiden voyage out of Manteo. They had to dredge a whole channel just so she could leave Shallowbag Harbor. State tugboat Albemarle towed her to the sound because they had not put engines in her yet. Then Capt. Whitfield hoisted the sails and pointed her at Ocracoke, Beaufort, and New Bern.
Gov Hunt saw the USS Constitution up in Boston and said North Carolina needed its own ship for the 400th anniversary of Raleigh’s Roanoke voyages. The first English colonists landed right there in 1585. They built this 69-foot square-rigger by hand in Manteo so regular folks could walk the same kind of deck.
Next fall she came up the Chowan Ruver to Winton. Docked by the 13-158 bridge. I was a kid in 1st grade on a field trip walking that ship while the costumed crew talked about 1585 and the expedition.
That’s why they built her. To teach the young and old the real NC history.
She stays docked at Roanoke Island Festival Park just outside of Manteo if you want to walk the deck.
No wonder NC can't keep crime under control. We got tortoises evading law enforcement!!! 🙄

A little more NC history today👇
North Carolina’s original copy of the Bill of Rights got stolen out of the Capitol in Raleigh in 1865.Union soldier rolled it up, stuck it in a pack, hauled it to Ohio, and sold it for five dollars.
State said the same thing for 138 years. We will not buy back what y’all stole.
FBI sting in Philadelphia. They thought they were selling it to the National Constitution Center for millions. Instead they handed it to the feds.
Paul Newby was one of the U.S. attorneys on that case. Same Paul Newby who spoke yesterday at Tryon Palace for Constitution Day.
Document came home. Courts said it belongs to North Carolina. Period. Sits in the State Archives vault now.
New Bern rang the bells at 4 o’clock like they always do. Last signature in Philadelphia, 1787.
That is our history. Not a museum plaque. A fight.
NC Only. 💪

On this day in NC history...
September 18, 2003.
Hurricane Isabel came ashore on the Outer Banks as a Category 2 with 105 mph winds.
Landfall was near Drum Inlet, between Cape Lookout and Ocracoke. She had been a Cat 5 out in the Atlantic. By the time she hit us she was weaker on paper. That did not matter.
Surge ran 6 to 8 feet on the Banks and 10.5 feet on the Neuse. Dare County took the worst of it.
Isabel cut a new inlet through Hatteras Island about 2,000 feet wide. Highway 12 washed out. Hatteras village sat cut off for two months. Folks had to go by ferry or boat just to get home.
About 700,000 Tar Heels lost power. Three people died in this state. Damage here ran around $450 million. Houses, motels, docks, and the road itself took a beating.
Hatteras did not fold. They rebuilt. They even made a festival out of the recovery. Day at the Docks still marks that grit every year.
That is the Banks. Storm comes. Water takes a piece. People stay.
NC Only. 💪
