It goes hand-in-hand with the obsession with found family as nuclear family. People paint platonic relationships as inherently less valuable, so whenever they do exist, they must exist as a facsimile of blood relationships, so they can be “more real”. It’s annoying

i think one big issue with fandoms is that they genuinely do not like platonic relationships and will stone you for viewing two characters as friends as if that makes their bond less ‘deep’
