This is Frances and she arrived here this afternoon. She is 4 years old and has spent the last 2 years on her own. We have offered her a home here so she will have friends for the rest of her life 🩷

Companionship and cages. Guinea pigs need company and are natural herd animals. They also need a decent sized setup. We recommend a minimum of 2x5 grid c and c cage for 2 piggies. Over the years we seen awful cages - piggies in paddling pools, hamster cages, fish tanks and more!

A hutch down the bottom of the garden is such an outdated concept.

Day 3 of Guinea Pig Awareness Week . We’ve covered hay and veg already so I thought I’d tackle the controversial one - nuggets! Essentially piggies don’t need nuggets/ commercial guinea pig food. Shock. If you fed enough hay, forage and veg they don’t actually need them.

Nuggets are designed because as humans we like to feed them. Nuggets should only be 5% of your piggies daily diet. Our piggies here get some every day at 1.30 - it’s part of our routine, the piggies expect it and enjoy them. This is a few of ours enjoying oats and nuggets ❤️

Day 2 of Guinea Pig Awareness Week Let’s talk veggies!! VARIETY is key!! We feed a minimum of 3 different veggies a day and at least 10+ varieties a week. Veg should make up 10-15% of their daily diet. Piggies, like humans cannot make their own vitamin c. #guineapigawarenessweek

It’s Guinea pig awareness week!!! Let’s start with HAY. Hay should be at least 80% of your guinea pigs daily diet. It’s should be in big piles so that they can forage through it. Hay is essential for digestion and wearing down the teeth. We use 5 bales of hay a week! Hay is life

Welcome Willow, Maggie and Delilah🩷🩷🩷 Their owner’s health has declined and they needed a safe place for these 3 much loved girls. They are super friendly and will join one of our herds once they have been quarantined 🩷🩷🩷

The most beautiful girl called Maria has joined us today. Unfortunately her buddy passed away so she was in need of company. As you can see she has a head tilt and she’s also deaf.🩷 We’re a bit under the weather here as the youngest humans have brought the lurgy home from school

Rusty is a 6 year old lady that joined us yesterday. She’s come here to retire after the loss of her buddies. Our retirement spaces are now very limited. We also have no boar/male piggy spaces available. This is due to lack of funds. paypal.me/primrosepiggies
