Great reason to use @bazelbuild and @buildbuddy! Remote caching and remote execution are the answer to this explosion in test runs & CI usage - we're seeing it across all of our customers. Never do the same work twice!
At Anthropic, Claude now writes 80% of our code. Engineers ship 8x more code per quarter.
Side effect: Tests grew 10x. CI jobs up 25x in 6 months. Here's what helped us scale:

Codex CLI can now be built for Windows MSVC runtime fully hermetically in remote executors.
This was the final validation pass for the MSVC support in hermetic-llvm project.

This process is so heavy that it would be simply impracticable to do in normal circumstances.
This is made possible thanks to Remote Builds distributed on thousands of cores using @buildbuddy.
It's done as part of the same graph as the final target. This is madness...
Heir is powered by @bazelbuild and @buildbuddy 🥰
"you can't do math on encrypted data"
ring homomorphisms: ...and I took that personally.
homomorphic encryption is some of the most "but *how*?!" math I know: a server does inference on your data while it's still encrypted, then computes a (correct!) answer it cannot read, to a question it cannot see
@Google and @jeremyjkun just open-sourced a compiler for it 🧵

BuildBuddy is literally magic. If I ran the stuff it gets done in minutes on my laptop, it would explode.
Incremental builds deserve an incremental cache. Major props to Tyler French from the @buildbuddy team for landing this change in @bazelbuild that reduces cache uploads and disk cache size by 40%+ buildbuddy.io/blog/content-d…

I am using @bazelbuild to download a Zig nightly build
To then build the same Zig version from source (we have patches)
Using a custom LLVM source repo
Which is also built from source
And all of this using remote execution with @buildbuddy.

Exactly ! I show everyone I can how I’m pretty much alone doing codex cloud at this scale just because I don’t care containers are only 2 cores. While every other agents wait minutes doing things locally, mine loop at light speed while everything compiles and test w/ @buildbuddy
Your coding agent doesn't need a sandbox, it needs a remote execution cluster buildbuddy.io/blog/remote-ba…
