While the TanPre film has broken all records for Precure film box offices takings, it's still dwarfed in comparison to its kids show peers. Detective Conan's 2026 film has made just over 10x in box office revenue (¥13.7b) compared to Precure.

>No worldwide release >No promo >No collab >still generated ¥1.31 billion not a single show can do this btw

Both Doraemon (¥4.27b) and Crayon Shin-chan's (¥2.89b) films have outdone Precure by a significant margin as well. Both of those films have a low chance of having any widespread theatrical release in the US or Europe.

The true breakout hits this year would be Chiikawa The Movie (¥18.49b) which is a phenomenon which is unparalleled in Japan right now. Cosmic Princess Kaguya (¥3.4b) was the surprise hit of the year. Not many original anime films even crack ¥1b let alone ¥3b!

！ #grampus

Just going to say that Precure Villain Heroines, the new Precure series was *not* greenlit by Cure Arcana Shadow's sudden popularity. Anime series are usually in production for at least a year!

That isn't to say that Cure Arcana Shadow's popularity hasn't been a source of encouragement to continue this project however. I imagine the really positive reception to her has helped a lot!
