✨Parker Posey’s Closet Picks! ✨
The legendary actor inaugurates the Criterion Closet in our new office, where she talks about her love of documentaries, including 16 DAYS OF GLORY and SALESMAN; shares why watching MY DINNER WITH ANDRÉ made her want to live the life of an actor; and selects films by master directors like Ken Loach and Robert Altman.
I genuinely don’t understand what more “consequences” you want than living your life practically in exile without ever seeing your family again

seriously? the critique from the new york times is “it insists upon itself”?
“La Bola Negra,” a new film by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, dramatizes gay repression and liberation across three interconnected stories. At first, the year is 1937 and viewers are thrust deep into the Spanish Civil War, where a Nationalist soldier and a wounded Republican freedom fighter exchange furtive glances. By the end, it’s 2017, and a Madrid-based historian need only look to Grindr to satisfy an urge. The movie “wants to be a sweeping historical epic of gay longing—a film about what it means to be a man who desires other men in times of war and peace,” Justin Chang writes. Instead, the directors have produced “a film that insists, arrogantly and aggressively, on its own monumentality”. Even compelling performances from Glenn Close, Penélope Cruz, and Lola Dueñas fail to rescue the extravagantly overwrought film. Read Chang's full review: newyorker.com/culture/the-cu…
Juding actors from the golden era of Hollywood by todays standards seem like such a futile exercise. I’m sure you would also think that actors during the Shakesperean era were overacting if you saw them performing today. Each era has it’s own style
why do people assume it’s only gay men behind those nasty stan accounts. it’s a lot of girls too lol
