What Should Stay Confidential on a Shared Financial Ledger? As banks explore tokenized deposits, payments, and securities on shared infrastructure, the question isn't just how transactions settle. It's also who can see the information behind them. Client balances, counterparties, liquidity movements, and commercial terms can all reveal sensitive information. For example, on a multi-bank tokenized deposit network, one bank shouldn't automatically gain visibility into another bank's client activity simply because both participate in the same ledger. The answer isn't to make everything invisible. It's to design appropriate access controls, protect sensitive transaction details, and preserve access for authorized auditors and regulators.
