lol. Ao3 goes down for weeks and the internet acts like the world is ending. People start trading fics like Pokémon cards, but writers can't ask for a thanks and should only write just to write and for themselves but also still share it because the world ends if they don't.
in the meantime, sharing my downloaded works privately is fine by me. please do ask me before uploading into any sort of platform (ie. google drive) for mass sharing — thank you!

most fic writers don’t want engagement to “get famous” or anything. it’s just that when you put your heart into something, it feels good to know people liked and enjoyed it. it also helps motivation to write more. if you ignore fic writers, there won’t be any more fics to read🤷♀️

“why are you treating it like a transaction” “you’re writing on a website for free, what did you expect” a good portion of writers understand that, and write because they want too, but there is something really ominous on how people react to being asked for acknowledgment.

if ao3 means so much to you and is such a big part of your daily life that you feel the weight of its absence now, let it also be a reminder about the importance of leaving kudos and comments even if its just a simple "i loved this!" to show writers you care about their hard work
actually i think i might wait until ao3 is back up and i’ll write for my ongoing fics in the meantime, so that come december stellification and LLC will be over at least

wonder if kusakabe and gojo ever argued about the energy they were putting in to finding a way to save megumi

everyone using the argument rn that "ao3 is down so writers wouldnt be getting engagement anyway" as an excuse to upload and disperse thousands of fics w/o the authors consent where .... lemme check .... they still dont get engagement? and likely wont now when ao3 is back up?

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

two years ago i had to listen to my friend's audios crying because she didn't know if she was gonna make it out alive. no international media dared to cover this. we were left alone by the outside and our politicians.
two years since the floods killed so many and two years since i almost lost my mind because the catastrophe got to my hometown
