After January 6, the FBI and the Treasury Department urged banks to comb through your transactions for the words "MAGA" and "Trump." Shopping at Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops got flagged too. So did bus tickets "for travel to areas with no apparent purpose" and "the purchase of books (including religious texts)." All of it happened without a warrant. And if your bank filed a report on you because of it, federal law makes it illegal for them to tell you. One document recommended running "MAGA" and "Trump" against Zelle payment messages. That's the memo line, where you type "pizza" or "rent," or "for the MAGA hat" when you pay your cousin back. The store searches came from a slide deck KeyBank wrote and FinCEN, the Treasury's financial crimes office, handed out to other banks. It told them to pull merchant code 3484, "Small Arms," and search for the stores by name. Bank of America volunteered. George Hill, a retired FBI intelligence analyst, told Congress the bank pulled the names of every customer who had used a BoA card in the D.C. area from January 5 to 7 and handed the list to the FBI without any legal process. Anyone on it who had ever bought a gun with a BoA card got bumped to the top. A deer rifle in Ohio 10 years earlier counted. The D.C. metro area holds more than 6 million people. Most of them spent January 6 stuck on the Beltway. Since 1970, the Bank Secrecy Act has required your bank to watch your money, report anything its compliance department finds unusual, and keep those reports secret from you. FinCEN, the office that handed out the search terms, is the office that runs it. The surveillance was already running on every account in America. Washington only had to tell it what to look for. This year Trump's own Treasury used the same law to make banks in two Minnesota counties report every transfer of $3,000 or more leaving the country. The words in the search bar change with whoever's in power. The search bar stays. In 2021 the keyword was MAGA. Today's keyword is between your bank and the Treasury. None of this gets fixed by electing the right people to hold the search bar. The Bank Secrecy Act's reporting mandate is what built it, and Congress should repeal it.

This may be my favorite squad I’ve watched. Some teams during the Ozzie years were fun and despite the disappointment of those years, 2021 was a fun team too. But this team is straight up entertaining

There’s a strategic reason behind using a white guy in this ad. It’s designed to keep the conversation on the merits of the policy instead of making it a racial issue. That would’ve worked great 10 years ago, but now we have a growing contingent of whites who are just as cripplingly insecure and neurotic about race as a BIPOC sjw
You pay taxes to cover welfare for people who just choose not to work. That’s why I launched a welfare-to-work requirement. If you’re young, healthy, and get government assistance, you should work, go to school, or volunteer.

WE HAVE PLAYOFF BASEBALL TODAY
The #WhiteSox absolutely improbable playoff run starts today....here's the shit I got on my mind.... 1 - Should Sam Antonacci just DH in this series. I feel like the defensive upgrade of playing Grichuk in LF probably out weighs what little bump you get from Beni vs RHP throughout the course of the game. But I dunno for sure. 2 - Keep Tommy Pham or Luisangel Acuna on the playoff roster? 3 - With Houston having one big swinging dick LHH in Alvarez who has no platoon split (he demolishes RHP and LHP equally well), I assume either Anthony Kay or Noah Schultz is the odd man out of this playoff roster on the pitching side. 4 - I like the Hagen Smith start today, ultimately, with big scary monster Yordan Alvarez anchoring the 'Stros offense, I'd like our best guys to be facing him as much as possible (Smith, Newcomb, Burke, Taylor, etc)... 5 - I do not want to see Kyle Teel bunting in this series...it was cute in KC and worked, less cute vs the Rox....unless you really see something, let's hit some fucking dongers! 6 - If a big spot in the game gets to Colson Montgomery and it requires "contact" Will shouldn't be afraid to go to Beni or whoever on the bench can provide that 7 - I'm pro going SUPER outfield, Doyle, Peters & BMont any time starting in the 7th inning. 8 - I know the batting order has been 1 - Ant, 2 - Teel, but with Mune heating up and Vargas very obviously your best hitter, I'd slide Vargas up to 2, Mune 3 and let Teel flow in behind them. 9 - I love pitching chaos in the playoffs. I fear it may crush some of yous, just try and hang tight and trust the process.

That’s a heck of a round of applause for the woman. Good for her for asking this
An audience member asks Harvard Law Professor Randall Kennedy how he can claim conservatives aren't discriminated against in academia, after she had to lie about her political views on papers to graduate college and fears being passed over for promotions because of her politics.

Apparently the White Sox’s unpredictable turnaround is giving some hope to other teams/players that have no hope. Even with a new owner it’ll be at least another year or two of bad baseball before that effect kicks in assuming they find a competent GM
Grateful for this season. Hungry for what's next. See you in 2027.

She “knows the facts” and reads all of the studies, yet @DanaBashCNN will not once cite any of these studies or discuss the details of those studies. Just trust the experts.
BREAKING 🚨: HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: “I know you're flustered now, and it is…” CNN’s Dana Bash: “I'm not flustered at all. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: “Do you see your job as ending vaccine hesitancy, or do you see your job as telling the truth to the American people?” Dana Bash: “I see my job as telling the truth. And the truth is that there is study after study after study. It's one of the most studied things out there in science.” Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: “You're repeating it like a parrot. You're repeating it like a parrot.” “I have actually read the science.” “Let's you and I come back here and debate the science.” Dana Bash: “I'm not debating this with you.” Robert F. Kennedy: “Of course you won't. All you know how to do is repeat things that people told you and say, trust the experts.” “That's what you did during COVID. Now we know that Anthony Fauci, who was the expert, was lying about everything, about masks, about the social distancing, about natural immunity, about the transmission from the vaccine, about the source of COVID.” “[Fauci] was lying, and you were punishing people for not trusting the experts. And now you're rolling out the experts again to talk about something that you have no personal knowledge of.” “Your job is to tell the truth to the American public.”

Yes, it’s about time the government made it clear 😂

Good idea - banks are giving kids loans that they can’t repay, and kids who haven’t been taught financially literacy are taking them. Then they: 1. End up with a degree that the market won’t pay them for. 2. Have all this student loan debt. 3. Become permanent renters who can’t afford a home and don’t want to start a family. That’s fertile soil for socialism and radicalism to take root. Kids need to be taught that a college degree is an investment, and some investments are better financially than others. This student trap contributing to the economic frustration and the loss of the American dream.
BREAKING: President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loan, per the New Republic

Who’s gonna tell these hacks that LGBTQ includes boys who consider themselves boys and would not fall under Title IX, even if they succeeded in applying it to boys who call themselves girls.

“Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Nah, Jesus. Christian Nationalists told me we should just try to form a country and keep out anyone who isn’t a white Christian, and everyone already here will be subject to a caste system based on ethnicity and religion. Preach the gospel to the world? Nah, they’re not worthy of it.

Fedde time. Funny I’ve felt like he should’ve remained the starter instead of Kay, but Fedde has been nails out of the pen in bullpen games
"You can expect more of a bullpen type game from us," said Venable of tomorrow

This is like the Sox hiring Ventura, except it was nowhere close to the analytical age we’re in now and he was only 8 years removed from baseball
From the latest Seattle Times article. This is just unreal. Dan Wilson should have never had the job.

Conner is a very nice guy and his interviews are perfectly fine. I dunno how you say that he “has been truly great” when you listen to him as a PBP guy. I would absolutely take Schriffen’s weird but loud style over Conner’s golf style announcing. I understand Conner actually knows more about the ins and outs of baseball and playing the game, but most fans are not listening to the broadcast for that. Costa’s call on Montgomery’s home run was boring but he’s not the every day announcer, so it was whatever. I don’t want a season of whatever that kind of announcing is.
Steve Stone is a treasure. Connor McKnight has been truly great; so fun to have him be a part of so many games of consequence. Brooke Fletcher is excellent. Chuck and Ozzie is the absolute standard of in-town pre and postgame shows.

Today I learned there is zero legality behind the philosophy of “separation of church and state,” as well as the original intention behind that statement which was written in a letter by Jefferson lol
