"Is this where I rent books?"
"Well, not rent but borrow, but yes."
"What's the difference between rent and borrow?"
"One difference is, I'm not about to start singing the most famous song from a musical called 'Borrow.' [deep breath] FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY"

Our #InformationAndDigital winner is the development team from @cambslib. Luke, Rosie, Anna and Paul responded imaginatively to the digital needs of those seeking sanctuary in Cambridgeshire. They 'provided a solution that other local authorities could utilise'. Congratulations!

For #WorldBeeDay I’m going to share one of the WILDEST things (literally) about @Rosslynchapel.
So, I usually tell people that all the things you think are weird about Rosslyn are fairly normal, and the things you think are normal are actually extremely weird… 🧵

Sadly, in the early hours of Tuesday 7 May, Ely Museum was broken into. Thieves stole the East Cambridgeshire gold torc and a gold bracelet, both dating from the Bronze Age.
The police are currently investigating the theft. We will be closed to the public on Wednesday 8 May.

‘The honourable lady is out of order in bringing those things into the [House of Commons].’
That was the rebuke of the Deputy Speaker, Sir Rhys Morris, to Bessie Braddock.
Her offence? Carrying - and firing - air pistols in the Commons chamber.
A thread. 🧵

Our #ConservationWin was when we went through all our packaging objects to remove the food contained in them.
Apart from this one. This one we missed.

Love this from Jack Black Nd it's a great way to get kids reading words they might not meet other places
Here's an awesome tip for helping children with their reading. Did you know that putting subtitles/captions on kids' shows massively improves their levels of literacy? Here's a little video of me explaining it. Feel free to share with your friends. #turnonthesubtitles

Popped into old Mill Road Library for a gander. A beautiful building. Long since a library, there's an opportunity it can return to wider community use 🤞 #ExLibraryTour

One of the best articles I've read about being a US public librarian. .."It’s imperative to know who’s here, who’s not, who has beef, who’s in hiding.". but still loving the job because "because every day requires me to meet humanity face to face." longreads.com/2024/02/27/saf…
