The biggest takeaway from all the recent elections is that a lot of people are completely checked out and don't really care about who leads them. Turnouts have been abysmal.
I'm not a Poilievre guy, but why doesn't he just buy the media like the Liberals. Yes, he'd p.o. some of his base, but basically everyone in the media is for sale now, it's the way the game is played. It would serve two purposes: a) get his message out to new audiences, b) show that the media support for Liberal policy was all fake. All he needs to do is promise bigger subsidies. Yes, it's bad fiscal policy, but if he wants to win, it'd be a pretty small entry on the ledger overall. #cdnpoli
The ' #suicidal_empathy' thesis just doesn't explain everything. Are we really to believe that women feel deep empathy for foreign men that are often threatening, rather than beaten down? I don't believe this is the correct assessment. It's really an extension of a rebellion against their fathers, like choosing the rebel instead of the reliable guy. That, combined with the strange, almost psychotic belief that many women hold, that, 'I can change him, if I just give him a chance...' Call it #suicidal_rebellion on a societal scale.

If I was a royal in Europe, longing for the days when they weren't just a ceremonial ornament, but at the same time a thoroughly modern individual who considered all religions equal in value and potential outcomes, I might look around the world and see where the monarchs still have power, and wish that I could join them.
Something to think about: the population of Western New York has been stagnant for fifty to sixty years, has their standard of living collapsed? It probably did to some extent in the seventies during the peak period of deindustrialization, but people seem to live pretty well there from what I can see.

Endless deficit spending serves several purposes, one of them being that it serves as a justification for mass migration into the country. As long as we allow our governments to spend recklessly, they will keep bringing people in because, "We need them to pay for the interest and programs for which we didn't set enough money aside." It is an endless circle, a dog chasing its tail.
There is an obvious approach to facilitate an increase in remigration: buy politicians. Our politicians were easily bought off to encourage our replacement, equally venal foreigners should be bought off to encourage their people to return to their land of origin.

It seems people are missing the key aspect of this 'Sovereign Wealth Fund'. Carney has repeatedly stated that it's purpose is to 'derisk' private investment. So basically, he is using the Bank of Canada to print money as a backstop for private investors. Undoubtedly, Brookfield will be a partner in many of these investments. So Carney's fund will be guaranteeing the profits of an entity in which he holds significant personal interest. This is a level of blatant corruption we have not witnessed in this country since it was run as a resource colony by the British. This is the definition of crony capitalism.

Canada's raison d'etre was to preserve the British Empire under representative government. When the Empire ended in the 60's, the reason for Canada ended, and we have drifted with no sense of purpose ever since.
Governments in Canada today are a pale imitation of the Imperial Governments in London, but that's what they are. The people of Canada are not viewed as fellow citizens of a nation, they are viewed as subjects, and that's why Canadian leaders show no solidarity with the people who settled and made the country what it is.
