Politics is so weird because Mmusi Maimane and Vuyo Zungula have been such important political voices but that doesn't translate to votes.

Action SA have won Ward 123 (Joubert Park Doornfontein) off the ANC. The DA have won Ward 67 (Yeoville Parktown) off the ANC. The inner city contests have been fascinating in the metros.

Saxonwald Primary School, Johannesburg: DA 76% (+13) RISE 6% (+6) ANC 6% (-5) ActionSA 5% (-13) Turnout 63% (+12) The reconfiguration of ActionSA's make-up is interesting. They've lost white vote and added township vote instead.

Many one the votes Action SA has received are because of Dr Nasiphi Moya, not Herman Mashaba. I think she’s their biggest asset.

Congratulations to the Democrats for victory in the midterms. The outcomes are a victory for democracy in the US and the world. A victory for accountability, the international rule of law and the UN Charter. A victory that shows how much the American value diversity. A victory for those who believe that relations between countries should be governed by predictability and mutual respect. We will continue working towards common ground.

Dear Dawie, It is important to explain that Esithebeni Primary School is a VD in Ward 46. There are 8 VDs in the ward. You forget to mention that the ANC has won the same ward.

Much to blame the ANC government for, but the blame for being excluded from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) is entirely at the foot of the conservative Afrikaner movement - Solidarity, Afriforum and their friends - and an ideological White House.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and COGTA, Jacob Mamabolo, and Advocate Terry Motau SC for their important role in facilitating the conclusion of this historic agreement between the City of Johannesburg and SAMWU. The signing of the Addendum to the Politically Facilitated Agreement marks a significant breakthrough in addressing longstanding salary parity issues dating back to the amalgamation of local authorities in the 1990s.

Reminder that Joburg is not run by the ANC, it is run by a coalition so what informs your vote since the party you vote for might actually be responsible for the poor performance you are not happy with. Which party runs what in Jhb?

This one is personal. I've put on my I Vote ANC frame because I believe showing up matters, not just on voting day but every day before it. If you're with me, upload your photo, add the frame and make it your profile picture. Then send the link to your family group and your friends. Together, we turn out 🖤💚💛 twb.nz/i-vote-anc-we-vote-an…

The City of Johannesburg and SAMWU have officially signed the Addendum to the Politically Facilitated Agreement (PFA), marking a watershed moment in the City’s governance and labour relations history. We recognise the significance of this milestone and do not take it for granted. All parties involved share a common responsibility to act in the best interests of the City and, most importantly, the residents of Johannesburg. This agreement demonstrates the importance of constructive engagement and a shared commitment to resolving longstanding challenges in the interest of a stable, functional and responsive City.

IF SOUTH AFRICA WERE EXCLUDED FROM AGOA, the country would face an additional Most Favoured Nation tariff of around 3.4% on top of the existing tariffs the current U.S. Administration added to various countries. Currently, some South African products enter the U.S. market at 12.5% tariffs (Liberation Day tariff). Without AGOA, these tariffs would rise to 15.9%, slightly reducing the competitiveness of South African agricultural products in the U.S. market. Still, one could argue that while this would be a challenging path, IT WOULD NOT NECESSARILY BE AS CATASTROPHIC as we have faced in the past, when it faced much higher U.S. tariffs and still managed to compete. For example, in 2025, those of us in the South African farming sector faced tariffs of around 30%. Still, exports to the U.S. were strong. South Africa’s agricultural exports to the U.S. in 2025 totalled US$504 million, down 3% from the previous year.
