Great little fireside chat between @heddamaven and one of the biggest champions of community at @microsoft, the one and only @jeffteper at #PPCC26. Some takeaways I thought were interesting: 1. The AI-verse is accelerating exponentially hockey stick style. We went from AI not being able to generate a good image to AI being able to single shot a complicated PPT in one year. At Microsoft, we are constantly rewriting our products over and over using the models and harnesses that are exponentially better today than was 3 months ago. Jeff has never seen anything like this in the 35 years he’s worked here. 2. ROI - we have been talking about ROI forever, CEOs used to say, “You want me to give everyone a PC? What’s the ROI of that?” We are there with AI now. This conversation will disappear as we all become AI-native. Things WILL get cheaper as models get cheaper, just like PCs did. 3. Companies should do what they have always done with a new thing: Diffuse the tech, people are creative, let’s see what problems they solve. Find some biz processes that really need to be disrupted. Govern the things that have a lot of users so it can get MORE scale. 4. You get to choose your FinOps plan. You decide how much you want to spend and we will have an option that will work. All the model companies including us are driving down the costs of these models. 5. Governance has to be really solid to help you run your biz better. You need to be able to see spikes in costs and usage and take action immediately. Use the automated tools (like Agent365!) to help you! 6. The way we can now design a business process is different than us old-school boxes-and-arrows crew. Now you go back and forth with a LLM to design SOME processes. Some business processes are better with a 5 step Power Automate on a CPU, some are better with a LLM on a GPU. 7. Jeff started his Microsoft career on a DevRel team for Visual Basic and hired a guy named Satya Nadella 😂
