iPhone Duo is here! Excited to have worked on the design of our open/close transition. It’s designed to make the two displays feel like one seamless experience by perceptually bending the focal plane, not the content, so that it feels like opening a window onto a singular view.
Huge thanks to the engineering team building this, including @joeyhagedorn, @jedlewison, and many more. It’s been a true cross-functional collaboration across many layers of hardware and software.
Siri now lives in the Dynamic Island! Amazing work by @alexwidua, @mactyler and many more. Super proud of the team!
Steve’s been my manager for my entire 15 year career so far at Apple and I could not be more excited for this new era.
.@Apple enters a new chapter in Human Interface Design as Steve Lemay becomes the new leader of the team, working alongside Molly Anderson, head of Industrial Design at Apple. A veteran at the company since 1999, Lemay has shaped every major interface evolution from the original #iPhone to macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and, most recently, visionOS.
Tim Cook calls him “an extraordinarily high bar for excellence,” noting his depth of understanding in platform technologies and his gift for shaping intuitive, human-centred digital experiences.
With Lemay now at the helm, Apple’s design bench continues to push forward, refining the interactions, systems and visual languages that define the world’s most recognisable devices.

Proud to be part of the team behind iOS26. Lots of fun new features like the redesigned text selection loupe. A malleable piece of glass that reacts to your movements and brings your content closer to you.

Thrilled to share the project we’ve been working on for the past year!
Liquid Glass is a flexible material that constantly adapts to its size and environment, and lays the foundation for a unified design language across all our platforms.
The latest project I’ve been working on is the design of Liquid Glass, alongside an army of designers and engineers. We're designing it to bend and shape light while feeling like an elastic, flexible material that can dynamically shape shift, to make apps feel fluid and organic.
We’ve put together a design talk that does a deep dive into the thinking, philosophy, and principles behind Liquid Glass. If you’re interested in learning more about it and how to use it, check it out!

I contributed this little shockwave moment to the new AirDrop and NameDrop nearby sharing features in iOS 17. Give it a try!
I did a short WWDC presentation where I share some of the thinking behind the design of the Dynamic Island, as well as a bunch of examples and pointers on how to design for it.
Check it out in the second half of this talk: developer.apple.com/videos/p…
And in the first half of it, @mactyler intros some best practices and tips for designing Live Activities in general. So if you’re interested in learning more about Live Activities and the Dynamic Island, check it out!
The new project I designed arrives today - the Dynamic Island.
Its goal is to feel like a living, elastic bubble that can fluidly shape shift into different alerts and experiences.
This is just the start, but I’m excited to see it begin its life!
"The Dynamic Island feels not merely like a shape or dedicated area at the top of the screen, but like a real thing with personality. I have genuine affection for it already."
So proud of this feature we worked on getting a really positive response.

Huge thanks to the many engineers who have been and are continuing to work hard to build and polish this feature.
