SWIRL
Centres on characters from the Cape Flats and how their hair is as important to them as their family names. The movie focuses on young hairdressing student Elaine (@chanelledavids). Also stars @EbrahimVinette @ilseklink and the late Shaleen Surtie-Richards.

As an ode to kinky hair on the Cape Flats, #SwirlMovie is fantastic. It's tender, endearing, relatable. You will ugly laugh, cry, sigh. So well written! Bittersweet seeing Shaleen on screen but what a mighty swan song! Casting is a slamdunk. Nice one @chanelledavids

[🎥] “Swirl” looks like a straight-ahead story at the top, but it is complex + a highly feminist narrative on taking back your power. ALL of it. Bravo to Director & Writer, the brilliant Quanita Adams. And a moving performance from @chanelledavids 👌🏾: youtu.be/YRlE5ieNpxI
