a lot has happened since @AOC reached out to trump-aoc voters in her district, so we compiled as much of the story of the last two years as we could into an election day memo for you to read instead of doomscrolling.

You’re going to hear a lot about Democrats and “affordability” a lot tonight. But the shift to that message almost didn’t happen.

Also worth noting that Valdez said she is not endorsing, NOT that she's abstaining for voting. Spox tells me that Valdez voted for Hochul on the WFP line a few days ago

Hoping and believing is worth it. Since the beginning of last year, I've said we can flip the Governor's mansion and even the State House. I can honestly say we've done everything we humanely could to make it happen. It's all in the hands of voters now, and if I'm wrong tomorrow so be it. But, if we cannot imagine and believe in a better world than what we are even doing all of this for?

This is… insane:
“Musk has spent $474 million to help Trump and the GOP win the midterms…roughly 0.05% of his net worth.”
“If you compare his worth to the median American’s, Musk’s political spending this election cycle is equivalent to $116.”

Medgar Evers was killed in his driveway because he refused to accept a Mississippi where some were denied the right to vote.
He stood with thousands who marched, organized and sacrificed so future generations could have a voice. We owe it to them not to take that right for granted. On Tuesday, honor their legacy. Vote.
My general thought here is that Trump is the most unpopular president since 1946 and that midterm saw the insurmountable New Deal coalition crushed by Republicans.
This time, Trump is unpopular not because he’s incompetent or unlucky but because of a very specific promise he made and then broke. He promised not to do new wars and instead to focus on bringing down prices.
Instead, he launched a new war that directly and painfully raised prices. And he and his family got extremely rich along the way.
He broke the contract, and I think he’ll pay an even higher price than the polls suggest.
I'm not a big defender of public media/academic polls in general.
As I've said, I largely ignore them and rely on higher quality private polls in my reporting.
But there are big misconceptions growing in some quarters that I think it would be good to head off.
A poll with a candidate at or near 50% is very different than a poll with the alleged leader at, say, 45%.
In other words, 50% to 43% is very different than 45% to 38%.
The smaller undecided is a meaningful factor.
And any Republican strategist or pol with access to high-quality private polling knows that their numbers are not meaningfully different than the New York Times polls.
If there is not a Blue tsunami as big as Connecticut, it will indeed be a very large polling failure across many states. But/and that will as true for private Republican polls as for the "liberal" New York Times polls.
The prospect that the polls have moved here in the final week from narrow Democratic leads in many key races to larger leads is perfectly consistent with voter behavior and with the news flow and political environment.
There might not be a Blue tsunami, but tonight there are more reasons to think that there will be than that there won't.

Bedford Avenue after the marathon cleanup but before the parked cars return. It’s wide and inviting and such a nice change for an hour or two.

One reason that some establishment Dems are wary of Abdul is that he is a talented, brilliant, and dogged politician who will be a nationally impactful Senator.

Here’s a class act: Fran Hong has been working tirelessly to get out the vote in Wisconsin, support the Dem ticket, and not make herself the center of the story.

I mean her drama isnt our drama and she’s a non factor. Vote for Abdul!

Everyone across the pro-democracy coalition should spend the next three days throwing in with everything we’ve got for El-Sayed. After that, we debrief how close we came to getting stuck with Fetterman 2.0

Two framing failures here:
Republicans deliberately let Obamacare subsidies lapse knowing this outcome would happen, but that reality makes the GOP look very bad so it’s omitted from the headline. The increases are just happening, without context of the deliberate policy drivers.
The increases will be felt hardest among middle class Americans, but the impact is framed first in political terms as a “blow to Obamacare,” emphasizing politics over policy impact to the American people.
The substance of the reporting by @ReedAbelson @sangerkatz is fair and clear, but editorial chose a headline that could very easily mislead the reader into thinking the program is just unworkable when deliberate Republican policy is weakening it.
It’s not just the @nytimes this is very common everywhere
"Republicans fuck up people's healthcare" is the reality, but the @nytimes wants you to think it's a failure of "Obamacare"

Why AI workers should unionize:
The AI industry is starting with its own engineers and researchers, so their leverage is near its peak, and "the workers have a ticking clock."
@GarrisonLovely's proposal: organize a union around safety, then ask the CEOs who say they want to slow down to voluntarily recognize it.
