Storytelling is an essential leadership skill. Stories help us make connections, build meaningful relationships with others & retain information. We're 7x more likely to remember a fact when it's wrapped in a story. As leaders we should build skills in telling five kinds of stories: 1) Vision stories which inspire a shared one. 2) Values stories that model the way. 3) Action stories that spark change & progress. 4) Teaching stories that transmit knowledge & skills to others 5) Trust stories that help people understand, connect with & believe in us. hbr.org/2023/09/5-types-of-s… By @NickWestergaard in @HarvardBiz. tell your kids stories about themselves; tell your team stories about the team. They'll one day make it true.

The paradox of living with grief is that I learn so much about life, love, what really matters. The space for all of that to be, simply, deeply. It's a bloody tough way to learn; that how we approach death helps us understand life. Yet it's unavoidable, essential. Elemental.

Scarlet fever is getting a lot of media attention at the moment, because of an increased number of cases and sporadic antibiotic shortages. I know parents are worrying. So, here's another set of photos of what it looks like on darker skin. #MedTwitter #scarletfever #BLM

When we listen & we're able to air our frustrations & pain. When we listen with curiosity rather than judgement, hear our differences. When we gather together in generative dialogue, connect our ideas. Not only do we find what's possible together, we really meet each other too.

The blatant denial of the economic cost of Brexit is just like the denial of what is happening in the NHS. Wilful self-deception. There will probably soon be many “avoidable deaths”. What will the government then say?

Job opportunity working in children’s residential based in the Wirral. When I was in this sector I worked for one of the practitioners heading up this company & couldn’t be more of an advocate for their vision of children’s residential work. @b79_karl could link you up for #IPS
