We just published a new and experimental package in Expo for doing local AI inference on iOS, Android and Web. Being able to use a local LLM to handle user input is really helpful.

Working on getting Expo SDK ready for the new iPhone Duo has been super interesting. Thanks to @huntie and @__ubax__ for all the insanely great work! #expo
Today is the day to fold your apps π
We wrote a guide you can give to your agents to get started.
On iPhone Duo your status bar and tab bar move into a rail on the side, so ππππππ.πππ is 0 now. This guide from @huntie, @__ubax__, and @chrfalch will help you adjust your apps for the fold:

While trying to deprecate Cocoapods and add support for SwiftPM in Expo and React Native almost at the same time can make me a bit dizzy, stuff like this really makes me happy: github.com/Shopify/react-natβ¦ - SwiftPM in RNSkia π€© @wcandillon
So many insanely cool things coming.
π π Expo SDK 58 beta is out. Built for iOS 27 on React Native 0.88 RC, with ππ‘ππ-πππ-πππππππ for Siri, @ππ‘ππ/πππππ-πππ for coding agents, and Expo Modules 2.0 in beta....and tons more.

Tons of delicious details in the changelog: expo.dev/changelog/sdk-58-beβ¦
Looking good... πΏ#expo
Excited to see RN #SwiftPM PRs being merged in community libraries - lottie-react-native, op-sqlite, posthog-js and powersync-js have all merged PRs using the new SwiftPM pipeline in React Native 0.87! Thanks for the feedback - already fixed some issues you found in 0.87.1!
Taking a week off now feels like missing at least 4 MS Builds, 3 WWDCs, and a few App.js conferences at the same timeβthings are happening at such speed these days. Looking forward to be able to use Fable and ChatGPT 5.6 when I'm back. π΄π
This has been (and still is) a lot of fun. Making stuff faster! #expo
Your iOS builds just got faster. No changes required.
SDK 56 ships Expo modules as precompiled XCFrameworks: instead of compiling them from source on every build, your app links binaries that were already built.
On by default, locally and on EAS Build. @chrfalch shares all the details β
It feels to me like Fable is a lot better than Opus - it just doesn't struggle with anything - builds it directly without any issues... Working on testing out some Expo Universal components in #Expo SDK-56 and it just fixes everything.π₯
Wow... Back from #Appjs 2026 - this was a really fantastic experience! Thanks for having me on stage - looking forward to show more of the Swift PM support in React Native!
Long nights and great solutions creates awesome SDKs. So proud of being part of this - thanks to the awesome Expo SDK Team π₯
Expo SDK 56 is out π
β Expo UI is stable on iOS and Android
β iOS builds 16% faster, plus another 20% on EAS from precompiled community libs
β Android cold starts 40% faster
β Expo Router decoupled from React Navigation
β Inline native modules: write Swift and Kotlin right next to your TypeScript
β Hermes v1 by default
β Bytecode diffing on by default (~58% smaller OTA updates)
β iOS Widgets stable
β React Native 0.85 + React 19.2
It's been two months since SDK 55, and we packed in everything we could fit. Your iOS build times are going to thank you. Full changelog β
Speed, Widgets, Expo UI, Inline Native Modules, Expo Router and Brownfield. Huge beta release.
We just cut the SDK 56 beta π
β 50%+ faster iOS builds (precompiled XCFrameworks) β 40% faster cold starts on Android
β Expo UI is stable
β iOS widgets are stable
β expo-router rebuilt from scratch
β Inline native modules
β Brownfield multi-app support
The obvious themes are speed and stability. But there are a lot of other interesting changes (like Expo Router decoupling itself form React Navigation). Get all the nuance and detail in the changelog below β
Looking forward to start talking more about the SPM transition in React Native. Itβs going to be big. #appjsconf
So proud to be part of this awesome team π₯
π Expo is the best it's ever been, and it's about to get a lot better.
We raised a Series B so we can go faster on the things that matter to you: faster builds, smoother native integrations, and the services to make end-to-end app development a delightful experience.
There is a lot of work to do. This round led by @Georgian_io puts us in position to go do it!
So happy to see React Native animations being disrupted like this - it will result in huge steps forward for RN devs.
npm i react-native-ease
Reanimated is an incredible library.
But react-native-ease by @appandflow is opening the door to new possibilities.
Pure native animations. No JS thread.
Built this particle cube with EaseView, then recreated it with Reanimated.
What do you think?
