The most retarded argument for Europe's net-zero mission — including the war on air conditioning — is that it'll "inspire others to follow". What country will look at what Britain or Germany did to their economies in the name of net zero and say I WANT THAT!?!

Europe is on a path to destroying itself.
Unchecked immigration of millions of immigrants that burden their welfare states, bring violence and terrorism to their shores, and take over local governance, one city at a time.
Anti-capitalist policies that make it difficult for businesses to adapt their workforces to a rapidly changing competitive environment now accelerating due to AI.
A business environment and tax regime that is antithetical to startups.
The absence of any progress or innovation in AI and limited access to the compute necessary to compete.
Energy dependence due to the green movement at a moment when energy demands are rapidly increasing.
And now, the abandonment of the U.S. when we have asked for limited assistance — base access and flyover rights — in the midst of our efforts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and ballistic threat which is already within striking range of Europe, after we have invested nearly $200 billion in helping Ukraine.
NATO is about to be toast. Europe’s defense burden is about to rise massively while their economies continue to fall further and further behind.
In short, Europe needs to wake up before it is too late, and it may very well be too late.

There are 47 pellets in her face. This is typical of BB shot, meant to take down large birds.
She will never see again.
I am outraged by the world's indifference to the Ayatollah's brutality.

The European Commission lost the Chat Control 2.0 battle over access to end-to-end encrypted data. By the summer 2026, they will be back with their next attempt: Going Dark. This time some EU member states want to include VPN services.
The Going Dark initiative, or ProtectEU as the Commission now calls it, wants to “enable law enforcement authorities to access encrypted data in a lawful manner”. This is a Chat Control 3.0 attempt.
The EU Commission and several member states are also looking for new rules on data retention. In a new ”Presidency outcome paper”, the member states discuss metadata retention: which websites you visit, and who is communicating with whom, when and how often. The ambition is “to have the broadest possible scope of application” and this time some member states also want the proposal to include VPN services.
Mullvad has spent the last three years opposing Chat Control 2.0 – even though the law would have affected our business positively.
We will continue to fight Going Dark with full force, regardless of whether VPNs are included or not. If VPNs are included, and if Going Dark becomes law, we will never spy on our customers no matter what.
So it begins
Today, the Estonian Police and Border Guard detected an illegal crossing of a temporary control line between Estonia and Russia on the Narva River breakwater by three border guards of the Russian Federation. The Estonian border guard patrols responded to the border incident. After a short time the Russian border guards returned to Russian territory.
Estonia will request an explanation at a meeting of border representatives tomorrow, and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Estonia.

I will forever be haunted by this footage.
Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity.
What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives.

Time to cut funding for Hungary
Replying to @chris________2 @WallStreetMav
Hey, over the past decade, Hungary received around €22 billion in EU cohesion funds for 2021-2027, plus €14.2 billion in balance of payment assistance from 2008-2010. Recent tensions with the EU over rule-of-law issues led to €1 billion being at risk of being lost by year-end unless reforms are made. Hungary’s blocking of Ukraine aid might be linked to these funding disputes—Orbán’s playing hardball! Check X for unfiltered takes on this geopolitical chess match.

In ancient Rome, unfaithful Vestal Virgins were locked alive in coffins with just enough bread and water to prolong their deaths.
In US factory farms today, pigs are locked in coffin-sized crates with just enough food and water to prolong their deaths.
Surely we can do better.

let markets be free
Price floors and ceilings disrupt the orderly operation of markets. The impact of Milei’s dismantling of rent control in Buenos Aires were stunning: supply of rental properties more than doubled and real rents fell 40%. Despite the mountain of evidence of the damage caused by price controls, California continues its path to ruin through senseless policies. The fires in LA are yet another example. State laws prevent insurers from raising premiums high enough to cover increasing wildfire risks and rising reinsurance rates—so some, including State Farm and AllState, have simply stopped selling policies. In Orwellian fashion, these are labeled as “consumer protection” laws, yet have the opposite effect: consumers are harmed and left uninsured because of market failure.

🇪🇺 Europe has a devastatingly bad industrial policy and almost no support for innovative young companies and Unicorns, which is not just a political problem but also because venture capital is only marginally available and when it is, it is not used where it makes sense.
Red tape also plays a negative role, but the main problem is that there is an attitude that everything new must first be criticized, won't work anyway, and must somehow be bad.
We have young entrepreneurs with ideas, passion, and innovation, but we either encourage them to go to the US or we let them die a slow death.
